I really hope our politicians are smarter than this......guess I shouldn't hold my breath...all I can picture is a HUGE uprising if they try to tighten gun law and I can't imagine the results would be good. I think people are more passionate about this than freedom of speach...

The media is talking nonstop about it, but only Dennis Kusinich has been dumb enough to talk about tighter gun control.

One side effect of Bush using the terror scare card to get people all agitated, is that they demand the right to defend themselves now, as they no longer feel safe.

The dems aren't touching it, but the problem is, several lefty talk shows are.  Several talk shows that usually support dems.  They're trying to force a political response from dems.  Even Bill Maher yesterday semi called them out.  I want them to stfu because they're being fools and risk doing harm in the next election.  This battle is a dog.  They have to learn they can't have it all.  They need to prioritise and just suck it up that their foolish venture to have guns banned will never be a reality.

I don't agree with all Libertarian views but I do agree with the core principal of individual sovereignty and small government.

Libertarianism and capitalism grew out of classical liberal ideals. I think both libertarians and capitalists know who Adam Smith was...

Why were people like Milton Friedman libertarians then?  I'm sure he was a capitalist as well. 

Alcohol is an example of a legal, but highly regulated drug that causes huge problems. I don't think legalized pot would cause a huge amount of driving related deaths or spike the crime rate. Pot does not make people violent by causing them to lose their inhibitions. Your arguement of marijuana making our society inefficient falls flat on its back.

Libetarianism does not mean anarchy and unregulated everyhting.. Right to bear firearms, but restricted licenses and background checks. Legalized cannabis, but not cocaine or heroin. And no one is gonna bulldoze the IRS.. Just reduced taxes.. Besides, we could adopt taxing gasoline like they do in europe and pigovian taxes on negatives, such as pollution. Catch my drift?
