Mike produced the DVD, "Raising the Bar" featuring his brother Dave, who is a top amateur competitor who I think will very likely turn pro at the North American championships this year by winning the Masters heavyweight class and overall.

I'd say Dave's chances of turning pro at the Master's North American championships is pretty high.  What do you guys say?

I didn't see the video but maybe he use a lot of slow rep or giant sets ?

usually I never put more than 180 lbs on the bench for my workouts, yesterday I went a little heavier and I sets of 8 reps with 275 lbs and my chest is WAY less sore than usually

watch the video..
he"s using weights i was using after my first 9 monthsno say a year of training . particularly the tricep extensions...
also take into consideration the size of this guy..and obviosly the food and drug intake....

nop, honestly I don't see anything bad about his training style exept the shitty form on the lat pull down

most huge dudes at my gym train this way too

we got a 6'4 290 lbs dude who is getting ready for the Mr.Quebec and he never complained that we only have 120's dumbells.

bodybuilding isn't about strenght IMO, I am pretty sure that if Dave wanted to do a very simple set of 8 reps on a given exercise, he would be pretty strong

exactly Meso all bullshit aside i'll gaurantee that you could wipe the floor with this guy training wise and you don't even compete.

lol!!! boy, it really didnt take you long to chime in, did it?!?! and to think, i actually used to care about your opinion before i saw pictures of your big, fat, bloated, cellulite ridden, estrogen riddled, gyno sporting, potato chip eating ass!!!

by the way, all of those workout clips in this video were filmed about 4-5 weeks out of my show. i am capable of lifting much more weight than whats shown, but whats the point?!?!? those clips are an accurate representation of how i train right before a show. it is what it is....thats what i lift...so what!??!

.. wsup man.. is that you in the clips... cool...
i am in no way direscpting you... at all
but it comes with the territory....
whenever i watch a bb video i always look at the weight that is used as a means to inspire me to lift even heavier...
so far ionly a few have really blown me away namely coleman ... levrone... comier..and jay in some respect..
for me its all about strenght...not how strong one looks...
coleman deadlifetd 800 five weeks out..
and thats how i train.. heavy all the time...
but then again i am not a bb
 8) 8) 8)
i have over  a 17  bb dvd's all to be inspired...
it may seem crude but i am sure when a lot of people watch bb dvd's that what they watch it for to be inspired.

Well said meso but you have to remember not all bodybuilders are good role models.

This Mike Pulcinella looks like he has a lot of heart but just does not want to really learn to better himself.

just push some weight!

those are fair statements ,bro. but, for me, its NEVER been about what i can and cannot DO in the gym. i suppose if i had never competed, then i may have placed more importance on how much weight i move in the gym as a way of gauging progress. i totally get that. but the OPPOSITE is true for me. i do what i do in the gym solely to LOOK  a certain way on a certain day. thats it!!! thats all. its all about that one day, those few minutes onstage...and coming away the winner! ...and to do that, i also need to stay injury free..so therein lies another reason for my training style.

after being in the gym for almost 30 years, ive learned to accept and respect so many various training styles and philosophies, even when they are opposed to my own...if they serve a purpose.

point taken man...
those are fair points..
as i digressed earlier..
i am not a bodybuilder...
just a recreational lifter...

Once again SF, you've shown you don't know anything about BB when you say stuff like that. It's a very adolescent attitude. The only thing that matters in BB is how you look on stage.

Yet, somehow he has big lats. You think maybe he knows something you don't know?

If this makes any sense Agent001 has decided to throw his 2 cents in...

I know Dave would much rather look like he can bench press 500 rather then doing so...

Big difference between bodybuilding and powerlifting...

More importantly you know deep down inside you are not a pimple on Pulcinella's ass so...

Dave knows he's going to get some of the lunatic fringe on this board.  We're lucky he will still continue to post here.  We're looking forward to RTB II.  & we are wishing Dave the best of luck at the North American Masters this year.  Pix of him from the 2006 Masters Nationals are now appearing on Repetrope & USA Muscle websites.
