Milos,

On one of the episodes of the fitshow you were training chest. You started out the episode saying that there are two people in the gym, one who has a smaller chest but can bench press alot of wieght and another with great chest development but does not use alot of weight. I have to say that in the last year I have incorporated your 'techniques' in my chest training specifically because I used the same methods before and felt that my chest (even though I trained it hard and often) was still lagging. Now I truely believe that my chest has improved alot but what is the rationale ? Is muscle growth and size not correlated to wieght but rather movement and the stretching of the muscle ?

Thanks
L

I'm sure Milos will reply, in the meantime what he explained well in that video is that proper form is essential, because by using good form the intended muscles are worked more effectively than  when using more weight without the best form. Relatively small nuances in form can make a big difference on torso exercises, both lats and chest.

It's just prioritization-adding weight is important, but first get the form right.

In an embarassing moment yesterday,

I usually have been using the hammer stregth or dumbells, but for some reason i couldnt find anything open so I went to the good old bench press....warmed up, fine..then put on 225...did that 12 times, then put on 275 and at rep 5!!! I just couldnt move it...I quickly drop setted to get the muscle to work to failure but stregth wise I felt a little humbled..... I know I should leave my ego at the door right >? :-\

Any time you go from one form of resistance to another there's an aclimation period, during which time the weights won't be as good then will climb back up in subsequent workouts. Not important; gauge progress by relative improvement within whatever form of resistance is normally used.

It happens when I get away from bench, but for some reason squats its a diffrent story...i could not be doing squats for a month and get back to doing 85% of the max i was doing when I was squatting all the time?  My legs have always been naturally strong before lifting weights...I played competitive and collegiate soccer/ and an amateur skateboarder before hitting the iron...does that play into it?

Same thing with me and squats, it's a natural predisposition for strength and development in certain areas in this case legs, coupled with a good sense of balance. Someone else would have the opposite, an easy time with bench and more delays with squats.

It's not how much you lift, but how you lift that breeds results

Important, but also coupled with progressively higher intensity through increases in either weight, reps, sets, shortened rests, cheats, rest-pause reps, negatives, added exercises, etc.
