Question for Milos regarding workout drink
« on: June 02, 2007, 09:22:02 AM »
Milos, thank you for taking time to read this...

I was reading the article on Silvio in the recent MD. Not sure if you read it but they shared the workout drink you have been suggesting...

2 quick questions

1. Regarding Pre Workout...how long in advance

2. Article states that you have your athletes also use the drink during workouts....all the journals I have read state that taking in any kind of drink during exercise is useless as all the blood flow needed to break down food intake is obviously redirected to the muscles.....as in the "fight or flight mechanism"

Your thoughts?

Well...first you cannot deport US citizens...

Second: as far as my pre/during/post workout drinks - I will explain in detail when I have a chance (I did at my seminar...BTW)...but bottom line is:

With increased blood flow (up to 80% of blood rushed to the muscle) and blood SATURATED with exact predigested nutrients of choice (no need for additional breakdown) and hyperinsulinemic state - WHAT DO YOU THINK WILL HAPPEN?

Better yet - why don't you try BEFORE you answer it...

My first batch of products ARE available in my gym... ;)

Milos, Thanks for answering as I know how busy you are.

Not sure if we are talking about the same shake intake...My second question is

ingestion of your shake DURING workout. My understanding through nutrition and metabolism classes in College is that the drink will sit in the gut until the body returns to homeostasis where blood flow returns to the stomach thus shuttling the nutrients to the muscles.

I guess my confusion is this...IF my above statement is true where your "during workout shake" is not digested till after a workout and then you take a post workout shake wouldn't you be oversaturating the muscles?

Is there an official website where you are selling this shake so us Easterners can buy it?

Have a great weekend!

Milos, I don't read mags too much, but I read your info about pre-, during- and post-workout drinks in FLEX a few months back, and it really stuck with me.

Can you give us a few sentences on it?  Whey+creatine+glutamine mixes?

premade drinks in disposable bottles that are AFFORDABLE would be great.
It should be possible, and it would be very convenient.

Based on your articles in FLEX, I made a few modifications to my supplement routine.

Pre-Workout: 1-2 scoops protein powder with a NO product (SuperPump 250 or powdered PUMP-TECH).

During workout: SIZE-ON

Post-workout: 11/2- 2 scoops protein powder, 2 scoops Anator P-70, 1 scoop Six Star Advanced Creatine.

It's been about two weeks and one thing's certain. It definitely gets the strength up there.

It certainly wouldn't the first time someone said something like that. I heard a girl tell her boyfriend, that he didn't need to take a certain supplement, the label of which he was reading at GNC. She concluded with, "You might as well take steroids.". The guy was looking at either Muscle Milk or Up Your Mass.

Back when I was in school, I was having lunch and two freshman football players sat not too far from me. One started mixing his protein drink in his shaker. Upon seeing that, the other said, [/i] "I don't f*$^ with that s#*&; that @*#& will shrink your nuts"[/i]. I took a gander at the container of what the first guy was consuming. The alleged gonad-shrinking potion: Weider Dymanic Weight Gainer (Signature Line).

Lemme take a stab at this one...Milos can correct me if I get it wrong...

But I think it depends on the type of carb and protein ingested. Dextrose and Vitargo types of carbs don't sit in your stomach -- they are immediately (or nearly so) pumped into your blood stream. And, he chose to use aminos in his drinks rather than protein. So again, your stomach doesn't have to break anything down - the aminos are more or less immediately pumped into your blood stream.

Therefore, neither carb, nor amino (what's being used to substitute standard protein) will sit in your stomach.

...cuz yea, you've got a good point -- it's stupid to eat a steak and yam (or whey and complex carb) while working out...that'd just sit in your stomach and not be of use for hours.

I've been drinking a 100g carb + 40g aminos drink during each of my 2x/day workouts (yeah, it's like 8 scoops a pop...heh) -- in 1 liter of water. NO PROBLEMS at all. It's wonderful.

Thanks Garreth, good stuff
