comparing today's compettitors with BBers before steroids I have come to the same conclusion.
Now we need some healthy muscle building drugs to become available so that the pursuit of health and physical development can be reunited.
How do you conclude that, bodybuilders who claim to be natural aren't simply because they're bigger than natural bodybuilders of yesteryear?
Plus, being too ripped got them marked down, back in the day.
Did they have the supplements we have today? No! Natural bodybuilders today can easily ingest twice as much protein as their old-school counterparts, because they don't have to rely almost exclusively on regular food. Not to mention, today's builders have other goodies like creatine, that they can use in substantial amounts, which would be nearly impossible to get from regular food.
Were their diets as strict or done for as long as those are today? Highly unlikely! I don't recall any old-timers dieting for nearly 5-6 months to get ready for a show. Many of them, from what I've read, simply cut their starches to drop bodyfat for their contests.
Did they manipulate their diets to get rid of subcutaneous water? Nope! Plus, being super-ripped got them marked down in contests, back in the day, because it didn't look healthy.
Did the old-timers get buck-wild with their cardio? Probably not, outside the occasional jog in the park or on the track. How many times have you heard of John Grimek or Steve Reeves, hitting the treadmill twice a day for months on end?
These factors are among the reasons that today's natural bodybuilders are bigger and more defined than their predecessors.
