realblackbelt discussing Crocop *SPOILER*
« on: September 10, 2007, 05:02:14 PM »
We won't hear all the clowns saying, "right kick hospital, left kick death", or "Cro Cop will walk through the competition."

Finally the loudmouthed fans and nationalist freaks with their chequered flags have been silenced.

Hopefully Fedor loses also, so we don't have to hear, "Fedor is god, a machine, invincible," etc..

I'm putting a curse on Fedor right now.

I don't think Kongo will be as one-dimensional as Cro Cop turned out to be.
He's developing a ground game. With K-1, he'd be looking at more injuries.

I appreciate Dana for bringing all the top talent to the UFC.
Now we can really answer the question as to who is the greatest in the world. (absolute)
He also puts on free ppv's like this last one, and by all accounts is cool with the schmoes fans.

Fedor and Couture I'm sure will happen.

Thank you Dana White!!!!!

well kongo has one win by armbar as long ago as 2003
so he isnt that new to the ground game...

he probably just need to work on his takedown defense and he'll be allright... chuck and cro cop has done great without having a ground game

He seems like the type that's willing to evolve...moreso now that he's probably a contender for the gold.

I noticed that he used every advantage he had over Mirko to it's fullest.

He was constantly keeping that right hand up to avoid the high kick, judgind distance, using his better clinch etc...
If you look at Kong's MT fights, he normally keeps his hands lower.

Mirko just kept looking for the big knockout with the same high roundhouse we've seen so many times.
Consequently, he was picked apart.

But yeah, with Mirko out of the picture, Kong is the biggest baddest striker in the UFC.
Just needs to work on takedown defense and wrestling. If he develops some greco skills he'll be damaging people with those knees.

He's gun-shy. He won't take risk for fear of being KTFO again.
From what I hear, he doesn't sound too optimistic about the fights left on his contract either.
Such a shame tsk tsk..  :'(

Haha yes! Kongo looks like a some kind of jungle Superman.

King Kongo!!!!

A true beast of MMA.

He'll probably beat Fedor and steal his hopes of taking on Randy.

Perhaps it reminds him of the cages his parents kept him and his quasimodo looking brother in as youths.

Fedor would get destroyed in the UFC, plain and simple. Cabbage, Tank, Brad Imes, fuck just about anyone there would whip his ass. I would like to see Leben get up to 206 and beat his punk ass!

Realkarateblackbelt, care to tell us again how you think Karate is the best striking art for MMA and K-1? That meltdown was great.  ;D

No opinion. Just asking you to explain to us how you think that the various forms of Karate are the best striking forms for MMA and K-1. You destroyed your credibility a year ago with that post.  ;)

Hahahaha, not surprising that you're denying it now. Don't worry, anyone that's regularly posted here for over a year remembers it. Why won't you explain it to us again?  ;D

I am a black belt in the Shotokan style of Karate. My father was also a black belt in Kyokushin/Okinanwan Karate and instructed me privately. I think people lack discipline today in the fight world. Few people stick with an art long enough to master it and obtain a black belt. Maybe they don't like kata? Who knows? I think it's part of that MTV culture. You know short attention spans. Alot of these guys I see on Spike TV look like high school jocks that decided to do a cycle and work with an instructer for a few months. Suddenly they think they are martial artist. They also throw what I call "wrestler punches" It almost looks fake. When we trained we punched from the hip not with the arm. The effect of piviting the hips correctly is devasting power. I knew guys in the karate scene that could smash through cement blocks. This kind of power can only be achieved through proper technique. The steroid use is rampant. I see guys like Ken Shamrock that look just muscular sometimes, and other times they are red and Jacked! A heart attack waiting to happen. I am 6' and 255 and I never used steroids. Nobody I new did either. Sorry for my rant.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh brother.

Karate/MT/Kickboxing are second to bodybuilding/steroids as far as standup fighting goes.
This has been proven in K-1.
