allright now ive watched it! tuf is starting to pick up... this can be an entertaining season! next episode they will wreck the house... i think hughes said he have 2-3 fights left in him?

dorian was as worthless on the ground as one could expect... guys is 29! wtf is he doing on that show if he cant do shit on the ground... wrong sport!
when he gave up his back he was waiting to tap, before even the choke set in! he had his hand out and ready and everything! looked like he never ever been in that position.

matt hughes is a tool, bible studies?! he tries to give the impression hes not forcing his religious believes on people, but its just a trick, he end up holding hands and praying with everyone at the end of the show... serra is refreshing and easily one of the better coaches, he seems to keep it real, i think he hates hughes for real. joe is a pussy how the hell can he be homesick after 2 episodes? he's in the perfect spot for bouncing back from a loss, but he rather think about his precious gf.

what a wuss.

there's no way serra is a better coach than hughes. And there's no doubt he's 10x the fighter of serra.

Hughes just has that wrestler spirit. Sacrifice, work ethic, and just ungodly toughness.

i really wish GSP didn't lose to serra, otherwise he would have been the coach this season and we don't have to hear f*** this and f*** that from a typical ny italian or jew or watever.

Look at who started this thread, you don't actually expect him to know what he's talking about let alone be right at something do you?

I agree 100% .. He has no respect for anyone..Not his fighters.Nor for Hughes.. I don't like Hughes..But Serra is such an annoying person.. His guys are doing it all on natural fighting ability...He's not teaching them anything..

so how supportive was hughes, by telling his fighter dorian that he would run over his opponent? looks to me he filled him with some false sense of confidence there. serra is more supportive and a much more active coach (even thouge it's half "breaaaaaaath!")  ;D

yeah looks to me he will continue his whining the next episode as well, im betting he will be kicked out by then... he said something about being in the house for 6 weeks, but he must talk about the total time, cause by the 2nd episode they mustn't have been there for long?
he's a crybaby afraid to leave the house... it's too bad a pretty boy like him didnt get more damage done to his face

Apparently, you're not familiar with Long Island. That's normal. ;D

I get the feeling Scarola will look back at this show as the worst mistake he ever made in his life.

He's actually well known on the east coast grappliing circuit. I guess he realized that there's no money in grappling or sport bjj and decided to give mma a try but, he's obviously not cut out for it.

when the show was starting out, nobody would know the impact of it, but now when they know how well people on the show has done in ufc etc (even fighters that didnt win, ended up getting fights for either ufc or fightnight, or both) and got of lot of exposure, had the possibility to get sponsors (hell even corey who didnt win shit ended up with a sponsor now)

knowing this, i find it amazing that people dont come into the show and give their all, theyre not in shape, they cant make weight, they wanna leave any chance they get etc i cant believe they dont understand the kind of opportunity it is? and thats not even taking into consideration that they get to train with some of the best coachers out there + a lot of them ending up on their camp after the show...

im also still puzzled about how some fighters make the show, and others dont. we have fighters from the smaller shows that has BEATEN the ones that's on the the ultimate fighter series... yet they dont get the chance where they clearly are better fighters...

Matt Hughes' Blog - Week TwoBy Matt Hughes

We had some good practices Related News this week, and though there’s a big difference between the practice room and the actual fight, I was real happy with what I saw in the practice room, so I knew that I had guys that were gonna work hard and guys that were feeding off each other, and that’s one of the reasons why I picked the guys I did. I wanted them to be able to work together, and when that practice took off and those guys worked as hard as they did, I was really happy.

Some people don’t understand this, since we’re competing in an individual sport, but the team carries a big role in fighting. It was still the second week, people were still fresh and hadn’t gotten on each other’s nerves yet, so the team concept wasn’t as important in the first part of the show, but having been on the show previously, I knew that it was going to play a huge role at the end. So when I saw them practicing together the way they did and staying together the way they did, I knew that it was gonna help these guys out at the end of the show.

This week I was able to give Bibles out to my team, and everyone knows that my faith and being able to read the Bible and the stories is a huge part of my life, but my number one reason for giving Bibles out was that those guys only know two things while they’re on the show – the house and the gym – and I was giving them a third avenue to go to. When they go on the show they get their cell phones and their reading material taken away, and there’s no TV, so there’s nothing for them to read or do, and that’s why there’s so much excitement on the show – because they get bored. I gave them something where they got to read, they had something else to do, and something else to think about for a little while. I thought that would be big for these guys, to let them come into the gym, relax a little bit, and read. I couldn’t get them anything else to read, but I was able to talk them into giving them Bibles.

I wasn’t worried about any negative reaction from the guys because I really stressed the point that if you wanted to read, you could, if you don’t want to read, you don’t have to. Mac (Danzig) didn’t want to read, and a couple times I told him, ‘hey, it may be interesting to you. You don’t have to take some faith from it and I’m not trying to change your mind or anything, but there are some really interesting stories, in the Old Testament especially.’ But he didn’t want to, so I didn’t ask him anymore when I got the impression that he wasn’t going to.

As a starting point, I picked the Book of Esther because it was a short story, a good story, and it showed that the Queen was there for her people. In applying that story to what we were going through, I wanted those guys to know that I was put in my position to help them as a coach. I wanted them to know that I was there for them.

This week’s fight saw Dorian Price take on Team Serra’s Matt Arroyo. Dorian is a Muay Thai specialist and I was definitely worried about his ground game, but I wasn’t going to let Dorian know that I was worried about it or that I was sweating the matchup. So I pulled Dorian to the side and said ‘hey, we’ve got to keep this standing. This is where our chances lie in winning the fight.’ I tried to sound as positive as I could, and when Dorian and I went over our gameplan, it was defending the takedown at all costs and getting punches off whenever you can to make him afraid of coming in and trying to take you down.

The fight didn’t go our way and Dorian got submitted, but what I wanted to get across to him is that everybody’s gonna get beat. If you’ve not lost, then you’ve not fought the correct people. I don’t think there’s anyone undefeated that’s fighting top ranked guys and you’ve got to take that loss, learn from that loss and go on. If you can pick up on the mistakes that you made and learn from those mistakes, then you’re gonna be a better fighter. I have five losses on my record and I try to learn from every loss. These guys need to do the same thing.

Matt Serra made a good choice this week and it was a good fight selection on his part. Come next week, I’ve got to do the same thing.

Part of Serra's Blog from week 2

Joe was saying how he felt he let me down, and, truthfully, I don’t mind that he lost. My problem is the way in which he lost. If you leave it all out on the mat and come up short, you tip your hat to your opponent and have nothing to be ashamed of. Joe didn’t do that, and I have seen him do the same thing in grappling tournaments • he just doesn’t deal with adversity well, and quits on himself. I was disappointed in that, but I’m not the one that has to live with that.

I came clean to the guys at practice about how I thought Joe found his way out of the fight, mainly because I did not want them to think they had to break an arm or go limp to satisfy my expectations as a coach. I wanted them to know that there’s a difference between getting caught and finding a way out of a fight, and as long as they didn’t do the latter, I was happy with their efforts.

Joey is a PUSSY. So insecure had to run home to see if his girl was cheating on him. I can't believe Dana and Matt wasted their breath on him. What a waste.

Submission Puts Kolosci In Quarter-finals; Scarola Leaves Show

By Brian Knapp

The nice guy will not finish last on season six of “The Ultimate Fighter” reality series.

John Kolosci, the cast member everyone seems to like, became the third entrant into the quarter-finals, as he submitted a wide-eyed Billy Miles with a first-round guillotine choke on episode three. Kolosci (8-4) joins Team Serra teammate Matt Arroyo and Team Hughes’ Mac Danzig in the round of eight.

“Besides the birth of my daughter and my fiancée saying yes, this is the third biggest day of my life,” Kolosci said.

Kolosci secured an early takedown against Miles (2-1), weathered a reversal and ultimately lulled the Californian into a false sense of security on the ground. As Miles repositioned himself inside Kolosci’s guard, the 32-year-old Indianan quietly slipped his arms underneath his opponent’s chin, rose to a standing position against the cage and finished the fight with the choke. The tapout came 2:56 into the first round, despite the fact that Miles appeared to be slipping from Kolosci’s grasp.

“It looked like Billy choked … no pun intended,” said UFC President Dana White, cracking a sarcastic smile at the beaten welterweight’s expense. “He got caught in a basic submission that he could have gotten out of, and he tapped to it.”

A youth correctional counselor in California with three professional bouts under his belt, Miles conceded the UFC stage got the best of him. “I was nervous,” he said. “It is what it is.” The 29-year-old last fought in 2004, when he was submitted by current IFL middleweight contender Matt Horwich under the Sportfight banner.

Despite Kolosci’s victory, all was not well inside Coach Matt Serra’s camp. The soap opera that was Joey Scarola finally reached a conclusion, as the 28-year-old Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt walked away from the show and, apparently, his full-time job at Serra’s gym. He left despite continued pleas from Serra, who begged his pupil to rethink his decision.

“I told him, ‘You walk out that door … you have a nice life back home teaching at my school; there’s going to be repercussions,’” Serra said. “You can’t go through life thinking that you can just do this and everything’s going to be rosy. I can’t have people wanting to join and train with me, saying, ‘Hey, I want to be a quitter, too.’”

Serra’s longtime protégé, Pete Sell, did what he could to knock some sense into Scarola, who spent the last two weeks pining over the life he had left behind. Sell’s words, like Serra’s, fell on deaf ears.

“What are you doing?” he asked. “You’re throwing your life away. You know how many people have nothing in other countries? You look at people like that. Do you really have it that bad?”

Not even a visit from White, who had just returned from UFC 72 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, could sway Scarola’s one-track mind.

“I’ve known Joey for a long time,” White said. “I like this kid. When you walk out of this house, and you don’t do what you came here to do, it’s over. You’re never going to be in the UFC again. You’ve never seen, over the last five seasons, somebody get up and walk out that door and come back and fight in the UFC. It just doesn’t happen.”

As in season’s past, the house was victimized by the potent mixture of alcohol and testosterone. Drunken cast members, fueled by sake and boredom, proceeded to wreck the million-dollar mansion where the show is shot, as they hurled paint onto the walls and sent a rubber mannequin hurdling into the pool.

“Before you knew it, everybody starts drinking,” Arroyo said. “Fifteen minutes later, everybody’s smashed.”

The tone of the latest installment took on a serious tone, however, as former UFC Welterweight Champion Matt Hughes, his showdown with current title holder Serra on the horizon, announced to his team that he likely had only two or three fights left before he calls it a career.

Thank God Joey left, I couldn't handle that pussy whining any longer. That guy that lost was supposed to be a great wrestler and looked strong as a bull, but had no idea what to do on the ground. They said he froze, but to me it doesn't look like he is nearly ready. And at 29, that's not a god thing. Decent episode, lousy fight.

one would think that at 29 he would know if he has what it takes to fight or not, a lot of fighters start out in their early teens competiting in various martial arts. and here on TUF you have people who either choke when theyre fighting or crash after they lose. whats the point in training that much and have various belts in different styles if you cant fight in the cage.
