good to see serra winning over team hughes

hughes isnt very bright is he

but the whole concept is getting tired. how many times we've seen

# they get drunk and wreck the house
# someone struggle making weight
# people bitch about going home

i mean wtf? surely they should be able to think of SOMETHING else?!

bring in some celebrities, let them fly somewhere else for a day, put the octagon girls on the show

do SOMETHING goddammit

 :(

Official Press Release For Ultimate Fighter 6 Live Finale

ROGER “EL MATADOR” HUERTA vs. “THE CARPENTER” CLAY GUIDA AT THE ULTIMATE FIGHTER® SEASON 6 FINALE LIVE FROM THE PEARL AT THE PALMS
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 8

Las Vegas, NV (USA) " Rising UFC® superstar Roger “El Matador” Huerta (20-1-1) headlines his first nationally-televised fight card as he takes on hard-hitting Clay “The Carpenter” Guida in a battle of top lightweight contenders on Spike TV, Saturday, December 8 at 9:00pm ET/PT. The fight takes place LIVE from the Palms Casino Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, featuring Huerta vs. Guida, and the two season finalists from The Ultimate Fighter 6®: Team Serra vs. Hughes.

“The lightweight division is proving itself to be one of the most exciting divisions in the UFC and these are two of the most exciting guys in it,” said Dana White, UFC President. “Roger and Clay have both won ‘Fight of the Night’ awards before and this one might win ‘Fight of the Year’”.

Tickets for The Ultimate Fighter 6 Finale are $350, $250 and $150, plus any additional box office or service fees, and go on-sale Saturday, Oct. 13 at 10:00 am PT. Please visit any Ticketmaster location, call 702-474-4000 or visit www.ticketmaster.com to purchase tickets.

UFC® Fight Club™ members will have the first opportunity to purchase tickets to this event Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 10am PT via www.ufc.com. A special Internet ticket pre-sale will be available to UFC newsletter subscribers starting Friday, Oct. 12 at 10am PT. To access this presale, users must register for the UFC newsletter through www.ufc.com.

In the United States, The Ultimate Fighter Season 6 finale will televise live nationally on Spike TV Saturday, Dec. 8 at 9:00pm ET/PT.

Training out of Minneapolis, Minn., Huerta (20-1-1) made his UFC debut in September, 2006 at UFC 63, where he scored a unanimous decision victory against Jason Dent. The 24 year-old has since tallied four straight wins in the Octagon™ against lightweight contenders John Halverson, Leonard Garcia, Doug Evans, and Alberto Crane, running his perfect record in the UFC to 5-0. “El Matador” will attempt to continue his string of dominance in the 155lb division against his toughest opponent to date, Guida.

“I am thrilled to be headlining this incredible card,” said Huerta. “I respect Guida as a person and as a fighter, but he stands in the way of my quest for the title. It seems there are doubters out there, and this fight will serve as another opportunity to make them believers. I will be more explosive than ever. I will be, quicker, stronger, and it goes without saying that my goal is to have the UFC belt around my waist.”

A Chicago native training at the Hellhouse gym, Clay “The Carpenter” Guida (21-5-0) enters his match-up with Huerta coming off a victory over Marcus Aurelio at UFC 74 in August via split decision. Previously, Guida dropped a brutal, hard-fought split decision to fellow lightweight rising star Tyson Griffin at UFC 72 in Belfast this past June. Many consider his memorable war with Griffin as a candidate for “2007 UFC Fight of the Year”.

“This is a tailor-made fight for the UFC, it has ‘Fight of the Night’ written all over it,” said Guida. “I'm looking forward to it, I'm sure Roger is preparing, and so am I. I am so excited to fight him and so honored to headline this card. It’s going to be an action-packed fight to say the least.”

The Ultimate Fighter Serra vs Hughes • Episode Four Recap

By Thomas Gerbasi

CAUTION: SPOILERS INCLUDED • Joey’s gone and the rest of the competitors on season six of The Ultimate Fighter can get back down to the business of training and fighting. But there’s still some drama left to deal with on this week’s episode.

First things first though, and coach Matt Hughes is not happy with his team after Billy Miles lost his episode three bout against John Kolosci. “This sport is 50% physical and 50% mental,” says the ultra-competitive Hughes, and an intense practice session follows the Miles-Kolosci match.

“Whoever isn’t giving 100% gets me next,” said the former UFC Welterweight Champion.

Meanwhile, the current 170-pound champion, Matt Serra, is ecstatic with his team’s performance, and maybe even more so with the effect it’s having on Hughes. “I love seeing Hughes like that,” said Serra. “He’s an egomaniac.”

Once Team Serra sits down to pick this week’s fight, practically everyone wants a shot at the relatively inexperienced Blake Bowman, not only to get what is perceived as an easy road to the quarterfinals, but to also have the chance to stop or submit him and pick up a $5,000 bonus. Eventually though, Serra decides on Richie Hightower to face Bowman, a pick that pleasantly surprises Hughes.

Bowman, with no pro fights to his name, now needs to get down to business, and he finds plenty of support from veteran teammate Mac Danzig. But while training, Bowman feels a pop in his ribs and despite trying to gut out the practice, assistant coach Robbie Lawler tells him to go have a doctor check him out. The diagnosis? Deep anterior bruising and an inflammation of the joint. Bowman keeps training though.

One member of Team Hughes who wasn’t able to keep training was already eliminated Dorian Price, who got buzzed while training and continued to suffer dizziness, forcing him to the sideline. While dealing with his frustration, Price lashes out at a cameraman, first hitting the microphone and then later making a move towards the crew member before being held back.

Needless to say, UFC President Dana White is called in, and though Price believes that he’s going to be booted from the show, White gives him a final warning and another chance.

“You can’t threaten these guys,” says White. “The last thing you want to do is get kicked off this show.”

In the fight of the week, Bowman battles Hightower and is able to land with a kick to the body and some knees, surprising his foe. Hightower starts throwing bombs back, but suddenly, Bowman falls to the mat, as his knee has given out on him. Hightower immediately pounces on his fallen opponent and lands punches until referee John McCarthy halts the bout, giving the Team Serra member the first round TKO victory. As for Bowman, he gets his knee wrapped and is helped to a waiting van outside for a trip to the doctor.

With the win, Team Serra has now extended their lead to two, 3 wins to 1. Here’s how the teams look.

TEAM SERRA
Joe Scarola • Eliminated in week one by Mac Danzig
George Sotiropoulos
Matt Arroyo 1-0
John Kolosci 1-0
Ben Saunders
Roman Mitichyan • Eliminated during week one due to injury
Jon Koppenhaver
Troy Mandaloniz
Richie Hightower 1-0

TEAM HUGHES
Dan Barrera
Mac Danzig 1-0
Tommy Speer
Billy Miles • Eliminated in week three by John Kolosci
Jared Rollins
Paul Georgieff
Dorian Price • Eliminated in week two by Matt Arroyo
Blake Bowman • Eliminated in week four by Richie Hightower

beats me

they gotta stop bringing guys with 0 fights on the show, doesnt do anything for us the viewers

whats the point in setting up a fight that last 20 seconds like that

waste of time. so many good fighters that deserves a spot on that show

Yeah, the second round was much more lopsided than the first imo. Ben just beat the shit out of Barerra, but I still don't see how any judge could have given round 1 to Ben. Especially with the big knockdown. Matt Hughes is a dick, but he was rightfully pissed and I don't blame him for giving the judges a hard time. It was cool Dana gave both those guys the 5 grand too.

good fight! saved that episode. i cant stand those jesus freaks.

ben should take the "american psycho" nick name from bonnar! haha did you hear his laughter?

his technique needs work, but he used his reach advantage very well and a good variety of punches, knees and kicks.

every fighter hughes has refuse to listen to him - both in fighting and in training. cant be the fighters. problem is him. apparantely he's not much of a coach. they dont respect him. they dont listen to him. + he's a moron for pushing him that hard the day before the fight that he almost got his hand broken. to put in all that work and money etc to come to TUF and then getting injured in practice that must suck.

5-1 is horrible. and now for the next episode he looks like a little crybaby. like a kid in school!

should've gone three rounds yeah. but ben had that in the bag regardless. dan got nothing on him standing and was afraid to take it to the ground (didnt even try)

another loss for team hughes!

he sucks as a coach! and another tough guy that aint shit when he steps into the cage. just stood their eating punches! and he was no rookie, he had 8-3 record or something.

and he injured himself in training, seems to me most guys on hughes team do that, coincidence ?  ::)

hughes is looking like a fuckin baby this season. cying to dana that he wants to leave...asking his guys why he should stay. what a fuckin baby.

i dont think any of his team respects him. no way can his last 6 fighters be that bad. i bet if they had a different coach some of them would have won.

i dont like serra either but im glad his tem is beating hughes team.

actually i feel sorry for the guys on hughes team
