and are not only share the same gym because it eases the continence when they eat their Wopper later on?

I would. Funny thing though because here in Toronto, the hardcore gyms run you about 30-35 bucks a month and the loser gyms like the Premier Fitnesses and so forth cost like 60 bucks per month. Reason being the less hardcore gyms charge for executive locker rooms, they charge extra for towel service and bullshit like that. Me? I just want to go in, train and bail.

  • I call Nasser.
Any gym that I work out in BECOMES hardcore.

I spit on the floor, use profanity loudly, shove people who are using benches I want to sit on, drop plates that I don't like the look of, etc.

I let everyone know that I'm the alpha male in the place.
The place is hardcore as a result.

In theory you should pay less for a hardcore gym - you're not paying for the privilege of fancy chrome, clean floors, useable toilets etc. No true bodybuilder gives a shit about that sort of stuff in a gym.

However, to answer the question, no I wouldn't pay double. If your minds in the right place you can make any gym hardcore. A 300lb bench and a 400lb squat weighs the same the world over.

How much extra do you pay for using the gloryhole at your gym?

And all joke aside, in your case you would meet more the kinda man you like... or at least judging by your photothread I assume you feel attracted to.

No, I wouldn't pay double to work out in a "hardcore" gym.  I don't like working out in commercial gyms at all. I have to if I'm travelling on a workout day, but my preferred gym is my home gym.

Because as BigJ said, "In theory you should pay less for a hardcore gym - you're not paying for the privilege of fancy chrome, clean floors, useable toilets etc. No true bodybuilder gives a shit about that sort of stuff in a gym."

And all joking aside, I go to the gym to work out not to meet men.  Sure, eye candy is always nice, but I actually prefer the gym when there is almost no one in it.  More access to the weights/machines with no waiting.  :)

It wouldn't be a hardcore gym if you're paying double the money.  A hardcore gym should be dirty, loud, laced with profanity, unorganized, and cheap.
Hey Playboy, Premier Fitness is the biggest sellout for pansies who pretend to workout.
My 2 cents.

Makes all sense, it's just that I always figured you of a person that would like to be inspired as in going back to the roots kinda gym, and regarding going to the gym to workout I fully respect that as well it's just that you tend to post images of (and I don't mean to joke here) big men as in juiced up 40+ men, the kind of you usually don't see in the soccer mom gyms.

I train at a Gold's that is 90% men. Not many soccer moms to be seen there.

As long as the gym has the equipment I want, is reasonably priced, clean, and has decent hours, I’m satisfied.  I don’t get off on labels like “hardcore” because I don’t need that to make me feel manly.  I don’t think it is an exaggeration to say that a lot of insecure guys can be found in the gym.  The bigger the insecurity the greater the need to be “hardcore.”  ::)

Better question is: Would you work out in a pansy gym like Bally's or PlanetWitless to save 50% off your membership?

"Hardcore"  is such a fucking joke.  I don't even get what the fuck "hardcore" is supposed to mean.  Does that mean shit is old and beat up and there is duct tape everywhere.  Does a "hardcore" gym not have air conditiong and stinks like an old sweaty sock?   As long as a gym has enough weights and equipment, im good to go.  45 pound plates at curves weigh the same as 45 pound plates at Joe's harcore lifting shack.

Some "hardcore"  lifter was bitching non stop about the music at gold's gym where i work out about a week ago.  I told him that if the music that was on dictated whether he was going to have a good workout or not, he should go home and rethink his gameplan, or get a fucking i-pod.  I told him I they could paint the gym pink and play nothing but britney spears and I'd still be 10 times stronger than him.   Not really a squadfather-esque gym owning, but it got my point across.  Don't get me wrong, I prefer a certain type of music when im lifting and I like a certain atmosphere, but i'm not going to let it ruin my workout if I don't have it exactly how i want it.

I think it means single mindedness...and it is difficult to be hardcore at a self conciously designed uber yuppie gym carefully calculated to seduce maximum profit. Beauty, entertainment and trendiness seem to be more important than the workout and simple quest for muscle.....So the old dirty gyms were loved because they were all about the single minded pursuit of muscle and brawn.  It was more fun that way.

But if you like the comfort and all the pretty stuff then fine, its just a matter of taste I suppose.  I just think much of the design and atmosphere is banal and trite,  and worst of all pretentious...I think pretentiousness has nothing to do with getting big. you either do it or not. No bullshit.

Hardcore defines the bbdr/trainee. The hardcore bbdr will go in the gym, do his shit and leave with intensity. The average idiot will stroll into the gym, adjust his earphones (because obviously listening to tunes is more important to him/her than training itself), wipe the bench, leave the his/her little dumbbells all over the floor and socialize till the days end.

A hardcore gym will have dummbells ranging from 2.5lbs right up to 200lbs and all the latest hammer strength, cybex and flex machines. It won't have people in there just because they like the showers and executive privilages provided. It won't have an aerobex studio or fancy towel services or any of that other crap. That is the difference.
