Here's some shots I just recently capped off an
old VCR tape from 1993. He was amazing then!
I remember thinking; "this is the first guy that reminds
me of Arnold in the DB pose."  Long arms, great taper
and the size in the arms to be comparable.

Yeah, I remember that definitive moment when he went from also-ran to dominating force on the IFBB circuit. ::)

in 1995 he took 3rd in the Niagra pro and he took 3rd in the Houston beating Ronnie Coleman that year. Highest placing ever for him. I would say thats turning it around.

Not trying to be a butt head but he won
the 1994 German Pro Grand Prix beating Coleman, Taylor
and Nasser.

My bad.. Very impressive results with Achim?
considering the level of competition in the 90's.

I think the whole diuretic incident gave Paul second thoughts about competing. Can you blame him? Shame, too, because the guy had some of the best genteics in the game.

had the taper and somewhat size. hardly ever nailed his conditioning when it mattered. high lats and back dwarded by delts (ala sergio oliva) sure didnt help against the guys with good backs. very flat chest too and looked somewhat disproportionate in the relaxed shot

The biggest problem was his back double bi..he couldnt get how to spread the scapula....so he never had a v taper in the pose.

He had some weak areas, but I think with the proper training he could have corrected them

His posing also left a lot to be desired.  It looks like he can't hold a pose more than half a second.

There is nothing he could have done for his back. The fibers and bellies just weren't there. It wasn't due to poor training, not to say his training was great, but the back would have developed to the same degree as the rest of the body had he had the genetics.

And posing cannot be taught! From what I read he hired multiple choreographers and posing instructors. But it's not something that you can teach or be taught. Either you know how to pose or not. There is not even one single example of a pro who changed his posing style during his career.

Absolutely, without doubt, genetically, Paul Dillett could have been the greatest bodybuilder of all time. No question.
