Der Fußballprofi soll sich erhängt haben. Zuletzt hatte Ledwon in der österreichischen Bundesliga für Austria Kärnten gespielt. Zusammen mit seinem Landsmann Tomasz Hajto hatte er kürzlich noch das Trainingslager der Polen in Bad Waltersdorf besucht und sich mit den Spielern unterhalten. Für die Tat vom Mittwoch gab es keine Hinweise, die Gründe sollen im privaten Bereich liegen.

Ledwon absolvierte zwischen 1997 uund 1999 zehn Bundesligaspiele für Leverkusen, 99/00 spielte er 28-mal für Fortuna Köln im Bundesliga-Unterhaus.

Der Ex-Schalker Hajto hatte noch am Sonntag gemeinsam mit Ledwon Deutschlands 2:0-Sieg gegen Polen im Klagenfurter Stadion verfolgt. «Wir haben Spaß gehabt und viel gelacht», berichtete der frühere Verteidiger des FC Schalke 04. «Das ist eine Katastrophe und für alle Spieler bei der Europameisterschaft ein Schock», sagte Hajto über den Tod Ledwons.

You are right DK... in a few minutes we will see the true Portuguese national team... although I didn't want to play against Germany... I really like Germany... I would have liked better to meet you guys in the final... I think Portugal can win, we heve a very strong team, but we need to be very careful with Germany's long distance kicks because our GK sucks bid time...
