I have a feeling the numbers 800 thousand and 750 thousand are going to be tossed around in the UFC fighters locker room.

Can you believe this?

Tim making more than Fedor.

Unfu*kingreal.

This is why Fedor will remain undefeated for a long time.

Fedor fights for his country, not for money.

That can't be right.  I read that the UFC offered Fedor nearly a million per fight, no way he would fight for 300 K if Tim Sylvia was getting 800 K.  And if Sylvia got paid that much then Affliction is going to go under for sure b/c that is just about ten times the amount they should have paid him.

I think ive made it clear my utter disdain for that lanky useless piece of shit but respect where respect is due, his management team (Monte Cox I believe) have pulled that out of the bag getting that sum of money for possibly one of the most inept fighters to come step foot in the octagon or a ring.

Bravo to Sylvia for displaying the forsight to have someone shill your shit!!!

Fedor is relatively new to the US fans. The only other time he was exposed to US fans is when PRIDE had one of their last events in Vegas. The average UFC fan has no clue about Fedor's or any other PRide fighters track record. Most people don't read MMA forums so they only know the fighters the UFC promotes.

One reason why it was essential to get Sylvia is because Tim is a former UFC champ and has defended his title successfully a few times. People are familiar with Tim- they boo him but they know who he is and what his track record is.  By pitting them against each other you have Fedor beating a big name fighter-a former UFC titleholder.  The other fighter is Arlovski but Andrei hasn't been as active recently and lost to Tim twice. Barnett is relatively unknown as well since he was active mostly in PRIDE

Marketing-wise the match makes sense although I'm sure they wished the match could have gone on longer so Fedor can really showcase his skills. There is still a lot of work for Afflictions marketing dept to do to keep Fedor name growing. He needs to take on more big names and Affliction better have investors with deep pockets (Trump) willing to settle in for the long haul if they are to keep competing successfully with the UFC.

Tim got a nice payday for less than 40secs of work. I'm sure Red Devil got some of their other fighters in as part of the negotiation process. Fedor probably also got some "bonuses" that weren't disclosed

Yes, maybe Fedor got a cut of the PPVs.

Nevertheless, paying that much for Arlovski and Sylvia is borderline retarded. Affliction needs some new people to set up these deals cause they screwed up badly.

though I thought it was a good show, simple maths prove that this business model aint sustainable  - the ppv buys better be considerable to just break even based on the fighter salaries.

Yeah I don't think they'll stack the card like this again...They needed to have a big opening show to peak interest.

Atencio said they are willing to take care of their fighters which means their investors probably willing to accept losses for a short period to increase their market share and name recognition.
UFC still has a lot more recognizable fighters and have several others locked up in contracts so Affliction has a lot of marketing/recruiting to do.

Couture stated that he won't be able to face Fedor until his contractual obligations/legal issues are over.
.
The debut event for Affliction Entertainment took place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. Part of the card aired on FSN before switching to pay per view.

Of the 14,832 total tickets, 11,242 were sold, and 3,590 were complimentary and given away.

Although initially announced as a sold-out event, the CSAC reports that 15,572 tickets were available, and 740 went unsold/unused. The majority of those "deadwood" tickets were from the $200 (352 tickets) and $100 (248)sections.

Among the event's 3,590 complimentary tickets, most were for the cheapear seating areas, including the $150 (1,079), $100 (822) and $50 (652) sections. Ticket prices ranged from $45 to $1,000.

So how do Affliction's total attendance (14,832), paid attendance (11,242) and live gate ($2,085,510) figures stack up to the competition?

Here are how three recent UFC events at the Honda Center fared:

    * UFC 76: 13,770 tickets (11,817 paid) for a $1,985,000 gate
    * UFC 63: 12,604 tickets (9,343 paid) for a $1,582,370 gate
    * UFC 59: 13,814 tickets (13,060 paid) for a $2,191,450 gate

Regardless of what happens to Affliction Entertainment...Putting on these fights basically brought wide wide attention to the Affliction brand...Which can only be a good thing...If Affliction ever decides to put out a line of under armour type apparel and follow in there footsteps, the sky will truely be the limit...

Don't do that.  Don't chalk it uo as some marketing ploy to sell t-shirts.  Affliction has irrevocably changed the future of MMA.  Dana was going to run it all, like Don King before him.  Now he has competition and we should all be thankfull for that.

Fuck the shirts.  I fight because I love it. Without all the clothes and coverage I would still fight because that's who I am, and who I will always be.  If you love MMA, you should be thanking the full contact God for Affliction.
