my 900lb squat
« on: September 01, 2008, 09:53:27 PM »
It is actually my second attempt with it.  i had more setup problems than I have EVER had, and it left me a bit rattled for my first.  If you notice I managed to cut it 4 feet high as well.  I also just missed my first competition 700lb pull right at lockout.  Grip issues, if you can imagine that! hahahaha :P

That's an insane amount of weight, even with a suit.  You deserve major props for that shit 8)

I'm chasing you Pegg..... Hopefully I'll get 800+ in November for the first time.  ;)

You mentioned problems setting up... are you doing any "walkout" or yoke work or anything like that prior to the meet to get used to the weight on your shoulders?    I train in a powerrack, so I have to walk the weight out, but I compete in a federation that uses a monolift.  I've had one hell of a time adjusting from the walkout to the monolift---I set the bar higher for the walkout or something.   Its sort of giving me headaches.

Honestly I was having problems getting the bar set on my back more than anything. I just had a bad day, but am getting some suit alterations done to help fix that too. youve got to train on a monolift to get used to taking weights out of one. There is (as you already know) more to it than just getting under the bar and setting up.
