This is a joke, right?  Didn’t 9/11 happen on Bush’s watch?  For nine months Richard Clarke tried to warn Condi, Bush, and company about the impending danger of Al Queda and they dismissed, discounted, or otherwise ignored him--until the whole thing blew up in their faces!  Remember the CIA memo entitled "Bin Laden determined to strike in the United States"?

Note: many years later Bin Laden still has not been caught!  Any way one looks at it this is failure on a grand scale.

they were caught by the police. what does that have to do with having a huge military to stop terroists, when Canada has been just as successful (or better) at stopping attacks on their own land since they had none? You lost me with the point you were trying to make.

ahh we got crossed, i never meant to say that having a large military would stop terrorist attacks. Having a large military will deter attacks though but like i said it doesnt really matter what size military we have if terrorist want to hit us they will. Scaling down on military wont help that situation though but my point was more geared towards national defense from other nations.

Are they not free and prosperous? don't the terrorists hate their way of life as much as they hate America's? Could it be that they don't meddle in middle eastern affairs as much as we do and therfore they don't have as much to worry about maybe?

they do hate america now is it b/c we are properous probably not as much as ppl like to tout and yell about it but im sure that has something to do with it. More so than not it is b/c of our foreign policy and i wouldnt say meddle, when you have allies you have to stick up for them so isreal brings us alot of grief from the middle east just as an example, and when you have principles you have to stand for those as well. Its not necessarily a wrong policy and not really one you can go back on as the motion is already set in motion. Maybe we can look way down the line and say now this action right here shouldnt have been commited and maybe we could have avoided all of this but terrorist wouldnt leave us alone if we packed up and left and you know this. Whether you agree with neoconservatism or not the US would be getting trashed for not doing things so its a damned if you do and a damned if you dont kinda thing.
