More detail

UFC middleweight champion, Anderson Silva was recently interviewed by Brazilian cable channel SporTV. The TV show [Sensei SporTV], featuring Spider, will air on September 27, but the editors released a shocking excerpt from the interview with Silva, when the champion spoke on his retirement from MMA:

"I'll retire next year, I already gave my all. I don't need to prove anything for anyone and within one year I'll put my gloves aside."

Ana Hissa, the editor who contacted us with this breaking news, was emphatic, saying that Silva mentioned retirement several times. This was unimaginable for them because Silva is in the best stage of his career and is the king pin of UFC's 185 pounds division.

We where unable to reach the fighter to add more on this bombastic interview or to know if he'll leave MMA and move to Pro Boxing.

Probably a psyche job. Anderson would be crazy to quit now with all the cash opportunities  available to him.

You never know this could be a ploy, they might have left things out? The rest of the interview he could say that he is retiring from the 185 division and moving up to 205? Maybe he wants to be like Barry Sanders and retire at his peak??? Okay Sanders retired before his peak and so would Silva if he did this >:(

There are way to many super fights at 205 for him to retire...

It still hasn't been confirmed yet. When rumors start flying around it can really muddy up the waters

Although UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva reportedly told a Brazilian TV station that he will "retire next year ... and within one year put my gloves aside," his manager was quick to downplay the possibility.

Ed Soares, the manager to Silva and many of MMA's top Brazilian fighters, said that Silva has a contract for six more fights and that he'll complete those before he considers leaving the sport.

Soares posted the news on The Underground, a popular MMA forum.

"Anderson's goal is to retire when he is 35," Soares wrote of the 33-year-old fighter. "He still has six fights on his contract, and he doesn't turn 35 for another 18 months. I know he will finish his six fights before he considers hanging up his gloves."

Those six fights are all part of a contract with the UFC. The organization signed Silva in late 2006.

LOOKS LIKE HE HAS SIX MORE FACES TO PUNCH IN.......... ;D

Or he could be retiring to get out of the UFC, I know Dana said that he didn't approve of Andesons' wish to fight Roy Jones.  Anderson still wants that fight and I know Roy wanted that fight, maybe Anderson wants to concentrate on his pro boxing career, after all boxing does pay better and his MMA reputation might get him that big payday.

He's not good enough for a pro boxing career and too old. And boxing will not pay HIM better. The boxing fans could care less about him.
