The Mansion
« on: October 10, 2008, 12:28:41 PM »
Remember that old TV show Dynasty from the 1980's?  The Carrington mansion, ostensibly in Denver, CO is really a house in California about 30 miles south of San Francisco.... It's called the Filoli Mansion.  I was on the grounds a few days ago taking photos...  The gardens out back are huge and beautiful.  If you are ever in the Bay Area you should check it out ... I bring all my visitors from out of town there and they always love it!

Exteriors of the house & grounds have been used in more than a dozen TV shows and movies... a list of them all is in the foyer of the mansion.

They even have a wedding pavilion on the grounds that you can rent for your special day.  ;)

Alexis and Blake are never home when I visit but listen to this you tube clip as you enjoy these photos  :D

At 1:22 in this second clip you some great shots of Filoli

The house is unoccupied, but it is maintained as a property of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.  You can go inside and tour the house--at least downstairs; upstairs is off limits.

very majestic, great pictures bay, you know sometimes only cultured people like yourself can explore places like this and appreciate them, because you are smarter than some other people.

I didn't photograph them, but there are a couple picnic tables out by the pool.  It's the perfect setting to enjoy some wine, cheese, and crackers!  There is a cafe on the grounds, but I prefer to bring my own. :)

I had to give a whirlwind tour to a friend of mine visiting from Australia the other day whom I haven't seen in 10 years.  She had never been to SF before.  People who live here really complain about the fog... but she kept commenting on how beautiful it all was.  She was right.  Our "ugly" days here are still beautiful! :D

Beautiful pics Bay...is it cold there now?

When my hub and I went to wine country for our 10th anniv. we first spent a couple days in San Fran.  It was July and we had to buy sweaters and jackets.  Sonoma and Napa were really warm though.
