UFC 100 : Georges St. Pierre vs Thiago Alves in Las Vegas on July 11

Georges St. Pierre will defend his welterweight title against number one division contender Thiago Alves in main event of the landmark UFC 100 pay-per-view (PPV) event at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, on July 11.

Company president Dana White — who is currently in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, with his entourage to try and “save” UFC 97 from being scratched from the Bell Centre on April 18 — confirmed the blockbuster match up on a local radio station, CKAC Sports 730-AM, over the weekend.

This is great news for “Rush” — he can now shift focus away from “Grease Gate” and onto the American Top Team-trained powerhouse. St. Pierre scored a major technical knockout win against lightweight champion BJ Penn at UFC 94 on Jan 31. It was billed as the “fight of a lifetime;” however, it has since turned into a nightmare.

St. Pierre dominated Penn for four straight rounds. Penn acknowledged that he had sustained such abuse that he was more than likely knocked out on his feet after the second round. His corner threw in the towel at the end of round four to save the Hawaiian from further punishment.

The victory celebration, unfortunately for him, was short lived.

In the wake of the victory, Penn’s camp alleged that St. Pierre illegally applied Vaseline to the shoulders and back of the 170-pound champion, giving him a unfair advantage during the fight by essentially nullifying the superb Brazilian jiu-jitsu skills of “The Prodigy.”

The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) was asked to investigate “Grease Gate” and is currently reviewing the incident. Penn since accused Kenny Florian of giving him the heads up that St. Pierre was a “greaser,” as well as a steroid user.

St. Pierre passed his screening for illegal/banned substances, which was administered immediately after the fight. He has never failed such a test. In short, the baseless allegations are perhaps more fodder for Penn to use to chip away from St. Pierre’s accomplishment on Super Bowl weekend.

Hopefully, controversy — real or contrived — will be absent on July 11 when St. Pierre tangles with the “Pitbull.”

Alves has been an absolute monster of late, finishing top-ranked opponents Matt Hughes and Karo Parisyan, as well as outpointing Josh Koscheck on all three judges scorecards, in his three most recent performances.

He has been on a two-year tear, with five of his last seven wins ending by way of (technical) knockout. Alves, in fact, has not lost since 2006, which was against another top fighter in the division, Jon Fitch.

just because a fighter passes a steroid test after a match doesnt mean the fighter wasnt using,you guys all know the deal,i dont have to tell yous that certain roids can be out of your system in 4 days.look at gsp,s right nipple,if yous cant see the gyno get glasses,im not saying gsp is doing juice now but he did use at some point in his career,and to get gyno(bitch tits)you need to stay on awhile.im not taking anything away from gsp,hes a true champ but that doesnt mean he never took a tour to the dark side before and used perforfance enhancing drugs.alot of athletes use or used steroids and hgh in thier careers,especially when theres big big coin involved.i like gsp and hes a good guy and very respectful to everyone

What's your point?  They're ALL using some sort of performance enhancing substance.  Look at Alves.  He could walk out of the octagon, step on a bodybuilding stage and place in most state shows.

i agree about alves build being musculer and hard,but all im saying is with alves theres really no proof beyond speculation,with gsp,you can clearly see the gyno.i know you know this mindspin cause you know alot more then me on these subjects of anabolics and working out,your build speaks for itself,your built better then alves and gsp,but this is just for the guys that might not know how it works,gyno only comes from a very high estrogen level after the steroids ones using starts to aromitize,or injecting straight estrogen is another way but i cant see gsp trying to grow womens breast purposely,lol,cause only dudes trying to turn into females inject estrogen.there it is,i just solved the case,gsp is trying to turn into a women by growing breast from estrogen injections so he can dominate the womens mma scene also,hes a greedy guy,lol.just a joke.your right about most athletes using,but i think at least 75% of all mma fighters,i wouldnt say all but atleast 75% of them fighters, pro and amature are using performance enhancing drugs,i just hope it doesnt get to the point where mma fighters are gonna have medical problems by using the drugs wrong or start getting busted with the roids in thier possesion,the media would have a field day with that type of bad press.fighters that claimed to never use any p.e.drugs are

gyno doesn't always mean gear, specially the slight gyno that GSP has.  It sometimes develops naturally and other times it is caused by other drugs such as pot.

my bad,i should of known the pot thing cause i used to smoke a quarter ounce aweek back in the day,my workout partner used to tell me it increases estrogen levels,i counteracted it by taking alittle more test though.has anyone ever noticed din thomas right nipple?for a lean dude its huge and hard to miss.if you watch his fight with bj in 2001 you can see it clearly.actually a bodybuilding buddy of mine was watching it with us and said,bro,that dude has some bad gyno for a non bodybuilder.maybe he just loves smoking herb alot,nothing wrong with that

I have some gyno from puberty, not that much i think cause nobody ever said anything about it, but i def notice it, never used any aas. Dunno, some guys just get it quicker than others.

GSP has insane strenght and endurance, but i guess if you're sparring with Rashad Evans you're forced to get in shape quickly.

Thomas has severe gyno and I would bet that it is the direct result of gear usage.  Usually if it's from natural causes or pot smoking, it's not so bad.
