my overall
on the fight - halfway in the first rd I could already tell this dude was way over trained. He better get that problem adjusted quick imo b/c his conditioning is a big part of his overall total positive attributes as a fighter...always has been imo.
on him deserving a title shot - hell yeah he deserves a shot at his title that imo he shouldn't have never lost...but that's neither here nor there..he lost it.
on his style - actually Quinton IS a better fighter than his pride days. Has his style change much? Nope. He's still a tough, hard headed, extremely powerful guy that fights with pressure and looks for the KO or slam or something destructive....the change is behind the scenes in sparring. He's fighting and training with quality guys now...guys that will kick his a$$ in sparring thus he's more prepared now than he was in pride such as (thai clinch, better sprawling, grappling, he learning BJJ now..etc)
doesn't mean he has to go out there and pull a GSP and use the entire catalog of moves on people.....he's enhanced his game in a different way imo..but yes he is a different fighter than in pride. same style but alot better.
There is no comparison between his style and chuck....rampage destroyed chuck b/c chuck leaves holes in his set simple and plain...rampage has excellent boxing (always has) and he doesn't leave gaps or openings for counters upstairs...it's as simple as that actually.
Here is the deal with rampage in my views....his biggest strength is his aggression and ability to press and counter defend. Doesn't matter what you throw at him...knees, elbows, shot, leg kicks...the aggressive stalking rampage will land a shot and it will turn the tide.
take a look at that forrest match....most to all fighters would have quit after that knee blast...rampage weathered that storm, took some more kicks and started landing bombs all the way to the end....that is his strength imo...when he tries to "change" and try out new sh*t in the cage...he'll get ko'd or take a loss.
He better be careful with his new take down....yes he can do it and has done it in the past...but I feel now is not the time to be practicing that sh*t against evans.....he'll eat a knee like jardin almost caught him with last night.
he needs to A) get his conditioning under control B) Pressure rashad = he will KO rashad no matter what rashad brings to the table imo
forrest fought a master piece against rampage and hurt him and that was still a close match tells me something about Quintons make up. Dude is a tough SOB b/c forrest came to bring it that night.
