I think we'd see some of the spending but certainly not all of it, particularly the bloated budget Obama is trying to get through for 2010.  Your right, he was in favor of spending/bailouts for the financial industry and the mortgage crisis...but not things like cap and trade and universal health care.

All of them are/were spendaholics.  Bush, mccain, and obama.
Bush and mccain liked war spending and tax cuts, which went to a few.
Obama's spending the money to create 4 million new jobs in america.

It's spending that we all hate... but can anyone raise thei hand if they think giving exxon 40 billion in tax cuts is a better idea than creating $40 bil worth of salary for unemployed americans rebuilding our roads and bridges?

Bush all the way...... now, if J C Watts was running on the republican ticket, I would go with Watts. I always thought he would be our first black president. He has left the political arena for now though. Obama is just too far to the left for me.
Bush made mistakes but at least he had balls and was ready to make someone answer some questions about terrorism. My 2 cents!

I have been sold on the Schiff idea of what is going on and the cure for this problem.

A lot of people are... I'm on the fence.

I do however believe that Bush was just sitting around doing nothing for a long time and at the very least Obama is doing what he believes is going to help.

People certainly seem to want to crucify Obama for his plan, when I'm kind of happy to have a President who is expressing a plan and showing off some ideas.

It's been awhile since we had that.

I think Shicff is 100% correct in that he says we borrow too much compared to what we produce and that our problem is too much spending and not enough producing and selling.

9.11 happened on Bush's watch, despite very clear warnings 6 weeks out.  Maybe he wanted it to happen (fulfilling cheney's war desires), maybe it was jut gross ignorance of job duties, who knows.

All the borrowing happened on Bush's watch.

Obama's spending like crazy, but only because he inherited a 1.1 trillion annual deficit and a falling dollar.  bush inherited a good situation with an ANNUAL BUDGET SURPLUS in 2000.  He squadered it for wars - at least one of which was voluntary and elective.

1.1 trillion will rurn into 10 trillion in ten years with Obamas plan.

I myself may agree with you... I'm just not an economist and may or may not be correct.

Bush- For the same reason I voted for him when he ran against Kerry. Don't like him, but the alternative bothers me a lot more and will be even worse for the country. Given that 3rd party wasn't a choice, I'd have to stick with the incumbent. Now, I wasn't old enough to vote in 2000- But if I had been, I likely would have voted for Gore.

Domestically Bush was marginal to horrible. I disagree on no child, I disagree on immigration. But everything he did foreign policy wise, no problems whatsoever. I have no problem with the Patriot act under Bush, under the Dems, didfferent story. I have no problem with Gitmo, other then most should have been executed long before soiling US territory. I have no problem with Iraq or anything else we're doing.

I am not a hippy and my political affiliations are well known. The British thought much the same. I don't think governments, nations or individuals have the right to impose their will on others through force. I believe in freedom and freedom precludes imperialism.

Just for your information $40 billion in roads will not create 4 million jobs,
$4 trilllion on roads will not create 4 million jobs.
People don't build roads by hand anymore.
Most of the companies that do this work are massive and all you would be doing is preventing layoffs.

Tax cuts, reduction of overhead on small business and freeing up the banks from toxic assets so they could loan  money would do far more. That's where all of the stimulus should have went to. TARP 2 will help though.

"Anyone who thought the new administration wasn't serious about fighting terrorism better just sit down and STFU! The new sheriff and his gang of euphemizers who won't discuss shooting straight have shown their mettle. They will put the fear of God Allah Teleprompter Jesus into those Islamist terrorists Disaster causing men overseas who keep blowing up  creating localized incidents of an explosive nature where innocents are slaughtered inconvenienced in a big way.

WTF people? Do they really think they can change a few words and all of a sudden we are no longer at war with deranged devotees of Islam who are pretty sure what they are up to. They have no qualms about their Global Jihad to impose Sharia law and create a new Caliphate. Sorry for the straight talk there I wouldn't want to offend anyone or make them feel uncomfortable.

I wish this wasn't symptomatic of the mindset of our moral betters on the left, but I have lived among them enough to know that they really believe the bad guys are simply chafed that we call them what they are names. And if we would quit classifying people who do evil things as evil then we wouldn't have to hear the word evil and voila bunnies, unicorns and decaf soy lattes for everyone. To call them dangerously naive is an understatement and these are the folks who are going to negotiate with Ahm-a-nuttah-job, Putin and the Chinese? We are in deep shite"

If we didn't meddle to begin with, we wouldn't have these problems.

Yes, S.Korea sucks but I had to actually work there. I suspect our reasons are very different indeed.

You're right... we didn't start them, but we did go in and actually accomplish something.

This pre-emptive shit isn't doing a damn thing and is truly just sucking up money.

Sorry, but while you may think it's ok to pre-emtively strike those who "may" do us harm... That's not how the fucking world works.

It's not about fuzzy bunnies... It's about realizing that just because you don't like someone doesn't give you the right to run around and blow them the fuck up.
