It's just a part of the game. Guys want to feel they've been smooth, cool, got game or whatever to get the girl and believe money/status has nothing to do with it. Hot girls want to believe guys are really listening or care about the rocks, cats, feelings, opinions, or multitude of other stupid crap we endure in order to get some.

could just boil down to the man getting exactly what he wants without having the need to have expectations of pain.  This gives him the relationship feel, intimacy, but the gaurd of knowing that no real emotion or hurt comes from any future breakup
