athletes type workout (football, ufc, boxing etc)

trying to get more balance, quickness and stamina. i do the bodybuilder workout at a fast pace and it s helping but not to the extent i need.  i tried the 300 workout and it was hard as hell but i dont think i can do it at everywotkout. any suggestion will be appreciated?

All forms of Olympic lifts. And with higher BB'ing reps, as 8 to 12. Want stamina (endurance + strength) than here it is. Most of these lifts are quick compound  lifts and should be learned the proper way before getting too involve with this stuff. Included are squat clean and press/jerks, snatches, Hi-pulls, etc.

Top athletes tend to work one side of the body and than the other to insure matching strength and balance in workouts and on the playing field. I know football players do. So doing things like step-ups, one legged SLDL's (yes, there are such things), DB cleans/presses, snatches, etc helps greatly.  Good Luck.

Remember that lifting is a supplement to your sport.  Doing three different bicep or calf exercises is not going to make you a better athlete.  Think whole body training when considering weights. Body part training that is the goal of bodybuilding is a waste for an athlete. The body in any athletic endeavor works as a unit.  Also stay away from sitting in a machine to work out.  Stick to basics including Olympic lifts, basic compound movements and body weight exercises.  Also don't consider only strength.  Having strength without conditioning is useless in a sport like boxing, MMA or wrestling.  http://www.rosstraining.com/articles/strengthvsconditioning.html

thanks guys, i got a lot of cool things fron de franco, i am doing cardio 6 days a week in the am on an empty stomach. starting this past sunday i did a more athletic workout(cleans, jump squats etc) and yesterday tuesday(a whole body workout (deads, inclines, military presses etc). i figure i will alternate between the 2 types of training because i am a wrestler and my look is where the money is.

De Franco gives good stuff. If you can afford the money and time (hard to hold a full time job unless your bouncing or other event security work from time to time...pays not good but some times new job contacts are...I did that all through college) than join his, of other type, training classes.There are a lot around. If your training at a local gym, or home, it would be a good idea to train with at least another guy of like mind. Actually 3 or more guy's can make better workouts. It's the male ego thing.

Try not burning out with those 6 days week workouts. Over training can creep up on you before you know it. Might I add, train the neck heavily. Also the lower back and abs. Good Luck.

Small world.  I worked with De Franco's father.  There's a picture of him some where on that web sight.  I think he came in second in the world in wrist wrestling.  The gym is located in a rich area where many Pro football players from the Jets and Giants live close by.  From what I hear it was the best gym in the area and many of the pros train there.

It's definately the best gym in the area, only about 2500 sqft. I was there last year meeting him and Zack Even Esh. Very well equiped.
