From the LA Times blog:

Joost Raimond, the operations manager of Emelianenko's global promotion company M-1, invited the winner of the July 11 UFC heavyweight championship fight between Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir to attend the Emelianenko-Barnett bout, and pushed for the UFC to allow Emelianenko to fight that man as part of a one-fight contract on a card that could be fully promoted by UFC.

Ariel Helwani already got Fedor on tape talking about his disdain for the UFC's champion clause that essentially keeps a fighter under contract as long as they are champion but allows the UFC to cut a fighter after a loss.

A prime Mark Kerr = a Mark Kerr that is juiced to the gills, and even then he would get raped.

i believe that question was answered when he fought coleman, fujita, and randleman. fedor is all around very good where guys like coleman and randleman had no clue about submitting someone, coleman had fedors back at on point and was clueless, thats ashame when a guy like mark doesnt know basic submissions. colemans been around since the mid 90,s in the ufc you would think he would of learned some submissions by know ???, im not trashin mark cause i think hes a great guy but he never evolved from his 97 mma gameplan. randleman is another with no clue about subs, its ashame cause if randleman and coleman had some decent jiu jitsu they would have went alot farther, i know they both had the ufc hw belts at one point but still and all they just didnt evolve to keep up with todays guys

dana would never go for that, the ufc has everything to lose but it also has everything to gain imo. if brock or mir beat fedor ::), dana would have bragging rights as having the best fighter in the world, if they lost mma fans would just trash the ufc hw div saying its weak and such and fedors legacy will be that much stronger

That would be such a great super fight, I would love to see Brock fight Fedor. I think Fedor would win, but it's the most logical fight.

Fuck Fedor, there, I said it.

Who has he fought recently that wasn't a washed up UFC reject? He's just in it to protect his "legacy" and make money off suckers that keep buying his PPV's to watch him beat up guys that can't hack it in the UFC.

Exactly, Fedor is a nobody. I mean when is the last time you saw him perform a tombstone piledriver, alabama chokeslam or a mighty chest slap ?

Well ? Yeah only in his dreams !!!!!!!

Brock is just so much more talented it ain't even funny.

i think fedor would love to fight in the ufc but dana will want to own him, dana will wanna know what time fedor takes a dump, pisses, has sex, sleeps, trains, eats ect. it aint all fedors fault, russion culture is different then the u.s, fighters over there dont sell thier souls for afew bucks like alot of these u.s fighters. dont get me wrong, i love my country with all my heart and we are the best, but im just calling it the way it is and the way fedor aint selling out to dana or no one else thats trying to own him, someone tell dana that slavery is over and maybe we can see fedor fight in the ufc

Maybe he could wait until Brock or Mir or Couture or Carwin, etc, etc... is washed up and done with the UFC, then challenge them when they go to whatever second rank organization he is fighting in.

GETTINGS SERIOUS, FEDOR HEADED TO CAMP
Friday, June 05, 2009 - by Steven Marrocco - MMAWeekly.com

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No. 1 ranked heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko will head back to Russia this weekend to begin training for his showdown with Josh Barnett at Affliction: “Trilogy” on Aug. 1 in Anaheim, Calif.

The two have shared a friendship that’s spanned over several years and work in two big-ticket promotions, often hanging out after shows to drink vodka and talk shop. Both have made it clear that the upcoming fight is business, and the relationship will stay intact whatever happens in August.

“Everyday I fight with my friend in training,” said Emelianenko. ”It’s a sport. We’re athletes in the ring to compete. I’m confident our friendship will continue after the fight.”

Emelianenko told MMAWeekly the bout was simply inevitable.

“I always understood that sooner or later, that question would come up and a decision would have to be made to fight Josh, so I just kind of accepted it for what it was, that it had to happen,” he said.

The stoic fighter did not, however, believe that Barnett was the last serious challenge to his dominance over current Affliction heavyweights.

“I don’t think that’s the case at all,” he said. “I think there are a lot of great fighters out there that I’m aware are negotiating with Affliction and that are out there and available to fight.”

Emelianenko’s trainer, Vladimir Voronov, was critical of his fighter’s performance against Andrei Arlovski at Affliction: “Day of Reckoning” in January, saying Emelianenko won using "his old tricks."
