IIRC, Bret said years later that Davey was in pretty bad shape,

In Bret's book he states that Davey was on so many drugs that he could barely function.

He said that prior to this match they met and planned out all their spots for it and the in-ring communication and signs to one another.  Davey then disappeared for three weeks and Bret didn't see him, talk to him or know where he was until several hours before the match when he showed up for work crying his heart out and admitting that he had spent the last three weeks and most of that very morning smoking crack nonstop and didn't remember a single thing they were suppose to do.  He said he had been awake for 5 days without any sleep at that point.

if all thats really true about Davey, well, it shows how good and professional he really was.

cause they pulled it off big time.

athough I thoght warrior savage from that card was possibly even better.

It’s a shame Davey never snapped out of the 1980’s cocaine years.
A lot of guys from that generation didn’t.
Have you read Diana Hart Smith’s “tell all” wrestling book?
