Despite his illness, Ted wouldn't miss Obama's convention for the world. We'll miss you championing the rights of the poor, working class, and the underprivileged, Senator Kennedy.  :'(

Entirely unsurprising for you to focus on negativity when the man gave and accomplished more to improve the lives of his fellow man than you will in twenty lifetimes.  ::)

I choose to focus on the good while all too many are so full of jealousy and hate that that they wallow in dog shit. I guess that's just a matter of poor upbringing for some.  :-\

Not surprising that you would completly gloss over the fact that he was responsible for someones DEATH and decided it was more important to sleep instead of call the police. At least he didn't cheat on any test in school...ooops, oh wait...well at least he didn't pay anyone to... er...nevermind.

Drunk, Liar, Failure.

You have got to be kidding!  Anyone else would be in prison!

On 19 July 1969, Kennedy attended a party on Chappaquiddick Island in Massachusetts. At about 11:00 PM, he borrowed his chauffeur's keys to his Oldsmobile limousine, and offered to give a ride home to Mary Jo Kopechne, a campaign worker. Leaving the island via an unlit bridge with no guard rail, Kennedy steered the car off the bridge, flipped, and into Poucha Pond. He swam to shore and walked back to the party -- passing several houses and a fire station -- and two friends returned with him to the scene of the accident. According to their later testimony, they told him what he already knew, that he was required by law to immediately report the accident to the authorities. Instead Kennedy made his way to his hotel, called his lawyer, and went to sleep.

Kennedy called the police the next morning. By then the wreck had already been discovered. Before dying, Kopechne had scratched at the upholstered floor above her head in the upside-down car. The Kennedy family began pulling strings, ensuring that any inquiry would be contained. Her corpse was whisked out-of-state to her family, before an autopsy could be conducted. Further details are uncertain...

Conservative Michael Medved made an interesting point on his radio show, saying that if Ted Kennedy had been president instead of Jimmy Carter this country would be a better place today. That is about the best thing I can say about Ted Kennedy.

It's amazing how when someone dies they suddenly become a saint. Kennedy lived a life of priviledge, a life where all the problems he got him self into were swept under the carpet by his politically connected father. He was expelled from Harvard not once but twice for cheating. Joined the Army after being expelled, and his father again pulled strings so he was assigned to Paris and not Korea ( where there was a war going on ). Got drunk drove off a bridge and killed a woman. Everything Ted Kennedy did was to benefit Ted Kennedy.

its amazing.  TK never worked a real day in his life, never went without, lived the life of a king, and liberals hold him up to be some paragon of virtue.

Sailboats, mansions, vacation homes, gold trips, booze, etc.

Utterly ridiculous.

Hey anyone can feel free to denounce me, I don't give a shit, Ted Kennedy was not a good man. I am not going to pretend he was just because he is dead.

So does doing some good (according to some of your standards) offset killing an innocent person?

The speech he made about Robert Bork was the start of the nastiness of politics. This man was a disgrace. He was a drunken piece of garbage who, along with Dodd, used to fondle and abuse women,he killed a women, covered up a rape and passed some of the worst legislation in history[TITLE 9 BEING THE WORST].Good riddance,if only Patrick could join him.

The 1965 immigration law is another disaster he helped create.

U mean this guy...Red Ted......explain to me why we ddn't string this douchbag up. Oh wait because his two brothers got shot....gimme a break

From Forbes....
On 9-10 May of this year," the May 14 memorandum explained, "Sen. Edward Kennedy's close friend and trusted confidant [John] Tunney was in Moscow." (Tunney was Kennedy's law school roommate and a former Democratic senator from California.) "The senator charged Tunney to convey the following message, through confidential contacts, to the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, Y. Andropov."
Kennedy's message was simple. He proposed an unabashed quid pro quo. Kennedy would lend Andropov a hand in dealing with President Reagan. In return, the Soviet leader would lend the Democratic Party a hand in challenging Reagan in the 1984 presidential election. "The only real potential threats to Reagan are problems of war and peace and Soviet-American relations," the memorandum stated. "These issues, according to the senator, will without a doubt become the most important of the election campaign."

Kennedy made Andropov a couple of specific offers.

If it were truly an accident, it could be forgiven, but it's what he did (or didn't do) afterwards that makes it so criminal.

How 'bout the other scandal with his nephew that was also swept under the carpet  ::)

Kennedy, who graduated from the school in 1954, said he was "enormously grateful" for the honor.

"Harvard holds a very special place in the hearts of all the members of the Kennedy family, and I look forward to accepting this honor," Kennedy said Sunday.
