On and on it goes, arguing over "gay or not gay" endlessly.
Who fucking cares?
Why is it that when I watch local shows, there isn't ANY "gayness" in the routines? Nobody hikes up their trunks, and that's over the last five years. Nobody! Only with the pro shows do I see that. I also don't see anybody doing the moves that Kai does; or for that matter, even a decent "Terminator" routine ala Vince Taylor. IFBB top level shows though, do. Yet EVERYBODY wears the "way too small" thongs, pro shows or amateur, and that can be interpreted by people who don't 'get' bodybuilding as 'gay'.
I attribute this to the level of competition. ANYBODY can go out and buy a pair of tiny trunks with hopes of showing off their (usually non-existant) thigh/glutes/hamstrings, but not just anybody can do what Kai, King, Taylor or Darrem can do because that takes a lot of talent and practice.
The teeny-tiny trunks are pointless for all but the highest level of bodybuilder, IMO. There simply isn't any reason for most amateurs (and even some pros, but not many) to NOT wear trunks cut to the same size as say, 70's era bodybuilders.
The thongs don't look gay, they just look ridiculous! Bottom line: if you care what people think about your bodybuilding hobby/lifestyle, including the inherent accusations of gayness from ignorant people, then by all means, stop paying attention and go follow pro baseball, football or basketball.
And I agree with Chick...the story is 100 percent horseshit. Never happened. Any woman I've ever watched pro bodybuilding shows with CHEER when the guys do what you refer to as "targeted towards the gays"...obviously this poster hasn't been to a show in person and heard that response.
