Giving Up
« on: October 20, 2009, 08:21:13 AM »
Have you ever known anyone that seemed to "give up" on their health and/or appearance?

Was there a specific cause or did they just seem to slip into apathy?

my dad eats like ish, it really gets to me sometimes  >:( not that i eat great but he has high cholesterol and still eats bad, fast food, fried food etc...

he isnt in bad shape he is a letter carrier for the post office so he gets alot of exercise but its more of a genetic condition.

But he always says that if he cant enjoy himself and eat what he wants to eat then life isnt worth living I know he is being silly but i also know he is being half serious too.

My mom went down that path too when she first got diagnosed with RA i think depression had a lot to do with it as well as they severe physical limitations until they found a combination of medicine to help her out. She has recently got back into walking around the lake around their house but she does it in these purple biker shorts  ;D These things are God aweful but i just dont have the heart to tell her so.

With people like that it's typically depression or just ceasing to care about their health.

My grandfather. He was 70 years old and working out at the YMCA every single day. He found out he had lung cancer that had eventually spread to his liver. Once the doctor told him his days were numbered, he gave up. His attitude was"If im going to die, whats the point". I guess the fear of dying or not knowing what to expect changes peoples views on life.

We have a friend who is terminal and was told several months ago he had ~2 mo. to live.  He has completely changed his diet and has been getting chemo and taking lots of trips.  Last time I saw him he looked great...but the chemo does take a toll itself.  I think him "trying" has bought him some more time to spend w/his wife and family and he's got a really positive outlook on things.

A friend of mine was told back in 1998 that she had roughly six months to live from the breast cancer she was diagnosed with. She moved to Hawaii, drank and lived it up thinking her time was short. 2yrs later she was still living and doing the party scene and realized, "Wait a minute-I haven't died yet, and I was given six months! It's two years later."
Now, a full 11 years later, she's still hanging in there, with having literally every treatment under the sun. She's also been the guinea pig for many treatments in the past that are now on the market, because her case (according to her) is so rare.
Sometimes it's odd how you go about getting final notice.

DONT!!
Sometimes it's hard drkaje.  Everytime I think I'm getting better...I get smacked down again.  I thought I was doing so well.  I went for a CAT scan a week ago. They found another spot on my lung.  The 2nd "new" one in 3 months.  Further test are being run.  I went in for breathing test today and did very well, but the tech told me that all my cardio and weight training is what's making my results so good.  If I were a couch potato, my tests would not be so good (regarding the breathing test).  I then went for my whole body scan and was told that I have to go back tomorrow because I have too much shit in my bladder, lol, literally.  ha ha ha ha.  All the radioactive iodine is concentrated in my bladder so I have to empty it out before going back.  ewwww.  They did say if they saw anything else (cancer) in me anywhere else.   :-\

A doctor once told me that ppl think that athletes in general dont succumb to illnesses as much as normal ppl b/c they are in better shape. He said that it is probably b/c athletes dont give up on themselves and they fight for it more.

From what I can tell this is nothing new to you take a step back take in the situation get your mind right and get your ass in the fight, its just like that last set of squats after a hard day youd rather stick a red hot poker in your eye then get under that bar but you do it b/c its what needs to be done.

and lean on money mike when you need a pick me up  ;D

No you don't; you look like a hasbeen 33yo paki-trying-to-pass-for-british clinging to a trade school second chance with a hard landing expectation "certification"..

sorry brother but your need to identify to something you're not is strong.

you never answered  my simple summirization and BGP question Mr Stanford...i mean such things should be childs play for you....they r for me  ;D
ok here they r again
1) 10.10.10.10 thru 10.10.10.14 all / 32...summarize (dont worry...i'll make the next one tougher)
2) during EBGP communication tell us 2 instances where EBGP multihop is not used
Answers found in Jeff doyle vol 1 and Sam Halabi <good luck..your dumbass might need it>

see i didnt forget you didn't answer...and as a CCIE i'm gonna be making well over what you make  :-*

PS  software developers are not engineers...they r code typing munkeys :-*
