BJ is just unreal
« on: December 12, 2009, 10:09:34 PM »
No one can say anything bad about BJ now.  His conditioning was unreal and he outclassed Sanchez in every aspect of the fight.  It wasn't even close for one second.  No one can beat him in the world at that weight when he comes in that condition.

I wouldn't say no one but yes he looked very good against sanchez. Hopefully he'll bring the same level of performance or better at his next fight.

According to Fight Metric, Diego landed a total of 8 strikes in the entire fight...only eight!  BJ landed an average of 8 jabs per round and 150 of 214 strikes.  Sanchez attempted 27 takedowns and completed zero!

Untouchable at 155.  Would prolly clean out 170 save for GSP.  Penn, GSP, Anderson have cleaned out their respective divisions.  I think GSP would have a shot at beating Anderson if can avoid the strikes, get the fight to the ground and get a UD.  But once he makes a mistake, he would get caught and brutally KOed.

I'd love to see Hansen, JZ, Aldo against BJ.

Like i said along time ago.  Lets see GSP drop weight and fight BJ at 155 and see what happens.  And if GSP is so bad why doesn't he fight in all the weight classes above his like BJ has done.  BJ is not afraid at any weight and has done it.

Please read, I said, "if."  GSP is prolly the best wrestler Zuffa has, he can put Anderson on his back.  Anderson is fond of the body triangle off his back, not a very offensive position, can't sweep or sub.  GSP could hold him here and GNP a UD, BUT "if" Anderson could guage his timing, and catch him, it is lights out.

 In your dreams maybe.
Standing GSP will loose. by KO
Do you think GSP can hangs with Anderson standing for more than 30 seconds?
Reality GSP can take Anderson down, fantasy keeping Anderson down.
Can GSP keep Anderson down for 25 minutes straight?

When GSP went to Brasil, and trained at the mothership of Barra, he was taking everyone down, and keeping them there.  His striking (GSP), isn't anywhere near Anderson's, but the threat of the shot is what makes his striking effective.

oh i agree, BJ did move up in weight class and got beat twice by GSP thus proving that the extra weight slows him down and effects his cardio, a smart fighter like GSP stays in his weight class.

GSP could never make 155.  BJ is by far the best fighter @ 155, but it was his idea to step up to 170 and GSP served him.  BJ's only hope against GSP is a KO.  GSP knew that and that's the reason BJ spent most of that fight on his back!  And personally, GSP can beat the Spider.  Travis Lutter had the full mount and tried a sloppy armbar.

It wasn't exactly like that, he did good.
Keep someone in the ground under BJJ rules, that's one thing.
Under MMA rules that's a totally different animal.
And training with gear and without gear makes a huge difference.

There's a difference b/w fighting in another weight class and winning in another weight class.  BJ got worked over pretty hard at 170, and other higher weight classes he's fought in.  There's a diff. b/w stupidity and bravery, but I'm sure he's learned from his mistakes.  Then again, he is saying he wants another shot at GSP :-\
