Apparently the ring leader of these clowns has a significant amount of legal trouble here in the States and, last I heard, they are having trouble validating their stories about a renovated hotel. I'm not sure the US actually wants to try and intervene in this case. They may very well have been attempting to abduct these kids.
I suppose we'll have to wait until all the facts come out, though.
