A debate on the Senate floor Monday over unemployment compensation crystallized, at least for a moment, the divide between the two parties in Washington.

Sen. Jon Kyl of Arizona, the Republican whip, argued that unemployment benefits dissuade people from job-hunting "because people are being paid even though they're not working."

Unemployment insurance "doesn't create new jobs. In fact, if anything, continuing to pay people unemployment compensation is a disincentive for them to seek new work," Kyl said during debate over whether unemployment insurance and other benefits that expired amid GOP objections Sunday should be extended.

"I'm sure most of them would like work and probably have tried to seek it, but you can't argue that it's a job enhancer. If anything, as I said, it's a disincentive. And the same thing with the COBRA extension and the other extensions here," said Kyl.

Given around the world the message is I NEED A JOB..It certainly is not that UE is keeping people from getting a job, but rather there are no jobs to get. Sooner than later the world is going to erupt into chaos over this very thing

No 2 - UE should not be so long without requiring something from people.  Many people abuse this whole thing.

I have never gotten an unemployment check. I haven't worked in two months and it would be cool, but I quit my job so I am not eligible. I heard that unemployment maxes at like 1200 a month though, so how could anyone live on that?

um Im getting the max in CT..I get another 25 each week because I have a child..After taxes 494 a week. I have no rent or mortgage, car paid for, no credit card bills. Im lucky. Daughters in a head start school, I pay 32 bucks a week, she is there 8am to 5 pm 5 days a week and they feed her twice a day

My girlfriend got transferred out of state and makes a lot more money than me. The financial part was a no brainer, I can write mortgages anywhere, leaving my friends and family sucks though. At any rate I am in no hurry to get a job lol. I like doing nothing for the time being

See if you could do per diem work for foreclosre or bankruptcy firms doing the routine court appearances.  

Also - why not see if you could do some process service work?

um I apply to just about anything under the sun...Even applying in Rhode Island..I do some per diem work, just not alot out there

You know would be a good business, I actually thought about doing it nyself and you could do it. 

Every corporation is supposed to hold an annual meeting and file a statement in the corporate record book to maintain corpore formalities and to avoid the piercing the corporate veil in the event of a lawsuit.  Most people take the corporate book and throw it in the corner. 

Go to a few business owners and scare the shit out of them about how they will have personal liability if some asshole slips in the bathroom and sues or something like that and they will gladly pay you $100 to put some paperwork together to give them a little protection. 

The forms are easy to fin on the internet and you can do it for them every year.  Once you are in with the company you can hit them up for other services.
