Very Dry Hands
« on: March 04, 2010, 06:29:38 AM »
A recent increase in obsessive hand-washing = pretty dry hands.

Anyone have a good intensive hand cream they suggest?

Does anyone here wear gloves w/cream to bed?

nothing like a good hand parrafain treatment. I wear socks with peppermint cream to bed every now and then. Try Bonds medicated cream, not greasy at all

I use Corn Huskers Lotion it works really well for me , I have never been able to wear gloves at all even for a minute.

I've used it with Shea butter a few times in the winter for my feet too.

I have a friend who has some sort of weird skin condition where she doesn't produce moisture.  She needs prescription lotions, but for her hands she like this stuff.  A little goes a long way.  I didn't care for it though.

I've heard great things about Udder Cream.

This is the lotion I use most often now, and I never have a problem with dry skin  Though when I lived in snowy places like New England, in Winter I often applied baby oil to my skin immediately after a shower (though while still in the shower), then pat the skin dry with a towel; if necessary you can still apply lotion afterwards.  This was excellent defense against dry skin!

I wish I had her problem! :P

Some musicians have been known to call me "Nasty Hand" because when I sit in on their guitar-even for 2 songs- my sweat just fouls up the strings and....it ain't pretty. :-\

Nasty Hand Syndrome....don't let it happen to you!

I dont play the guitar but my hands sweat pretty bad, If i put my hand palm down on a desk for a min or so and move it there will definitely be a area of moisture where my hand was  :-[

and gloves to bed...really?

I use that as well. My body chemistry has changed since I hit 32. When I was younger I had only skin, especially on my face, much to my annoyance. Now, my face is dry. I have to constantly oil my face, whether it be lotion or moisturizer. I can wash my face and 30 minutes later it's dry as the sahara. I was wondering if it could be because of my HCTZ medication. Aquaphor healing ointment is good as well.

What are you using as a cleanser on your face?  Shaving with a razor or electric?  Aftershave?  Do you take fish oil?  Aquaphor is too greasy IMO.

I use a razor, and I use Gillette Foamy for Sensitive Skin, I don't really use aftershave, because that drys me out. I use Neutrogena Face Scrub Razor Defense on and off. I should be taking more fish oil. What is odd is that if I use Proactiv Repairing lotion, I have a slight oily ness, but I don't dry out.

Also, my lips have been drying out as well, since 2 winters ago. And I could have chapstick but doesn't work. Aquaphor does it.

Tommy, I have the sweaty hands as well, it's on and off, when I was younger, it was more on than off. I always thought it was nerves, or possibly a lack of vit d, don't know.

I've never tried gloves while sleeping.   The best, non-greasy hand lotion i've found is E.L.F.   (vanilla coconut = divine).

Holds in the moisture and heat which penetrates more.  The gloves should be cotton so they "breathe"
