its just a engagement party...the weeding is a year away...

12gauge....solo 1000 powder.....chedite primers..1oz-1 1/8 oz loads.....7 1/2 shot...and some 8 shot...

It's supposed to be made with rum. A lot of people add white soda. That's not Sangria. Kinda sweet, but refreshing on a hot, summer day.

   * 1/2 cup white sugar 1/2 cup white sugar
   * 1 orange 1 orange
   * 1 1/2 cups rum 1 1/2 cups rum
   * 1 cup orange juice 1 cup orange juice
   * 1 lime 1 lime
   * 1 (750 milliliter) bottle dry red wine 1 (750 milliliter) bottle dry red wine
   * 1 lemon 1 lemon

   1. Have the fruit, rum, wine, and orange juice well chilled. Slice the lemon, lime and orange into thin rounds and place in a large glass pitcher. Pour in the rum and sugar. Chill in refrigerator for 2 hours to develop the flavors.
   2. When ready to serve, crush the fruit lightly with a wooden spoon and stir in the wine and orange juice. Adjust sweetness to taste.

you should use a normal drinking wine. Nothing fancy as it is getting mixed. Preferablly a decent rioja though. But since we probably won't keep this traditional, i'll let princess whitey put her spin on it.

Heck, I'll be honest. I've never made it (or drank it for that matter) before. I was just listening to a cooking show the other day and they were talking about it and giving out recipes. It sounded like it would go perfectly at the bbq party at bench's. It was mentioned that brandy could be used instead of rum. They also said to use a basic, inexpensive, but drinkable red. They also suggested that if you have several open bottles of various reds NOT to mix them, unless they were all of the same/similar variety because they could compete with eachother and make for an "off" taste. So, for instance, you wouldn't want to mix a red zin with a Beaujolais. I definitely would not add soda to the mix (not into that "wine spritzer thing).

Migs, let me worry about the cocktails. You have plenty of other dishes to prepare as we will be expecting a nice display of your work!
