Man... come on... Stop that.
If you live in the ghetto, you know when the guy next door stole the TV from the guy down the street... If you're legal, and you live next door to an illegal... You do know.
Hey... that 30 year old dude didn't live next door yesterday and no moving vans came by and yet he's living there today.
Hell, they talk about how they got across the border... people who think that they won't be ratted out talk a lot.
1. Do you really think that a legal immigrant, with an education, career, and a good job is going to be living next door to Pedro who just crawled through a hole in the fence and showed up with nothing but the clothes on his back?
2. There are plenty of people who rent accomodations furnished, or who for whatever reason will move into a place without moving vans. being a divorced man yourself, I'm sure you're familiar with a situation where a man will move out of the home he shared with his family, leaving behind the furniture etc, in order to maintain a sense of continuity for his kids... or sometimes just such time apart. Could be 6 of this, half a dozen of the other. Who knows? it's a flimsy way to build a case for lack of legal status in a country.
Shoot, when I moved into my very first apartment completely on my own, ...it was a Bay Street highrise, and there was no moving van. I brought a TV set, a telephone and my clothes. I acquired everything else. Come to think of it, I put the phone in 5 days before I actually moved in.
3. Do you think that in this environment rife with such vehement anti-illegal immigrant sentiment is going blurt out the fact that they are illegal to a total stranger?
The methods you advocate will simply foster an environment where people feel justified in taking action against complete strangers based on nothing but wild speculative suspicion.
