Gonna quit lifting weights for one month, the experiment.
« on: June 02, 2010, 08:14:47 AM »
I saw 50 Cent's transformation into a skinny mother fucker and it inspired me.

It doesn't take any balls to lift weights hard. Fueling the ego, the insecurity, the narcissism. Indulging like a pig.

What really takes HUGE balls is walking away from it all and saying "fuck it, i'll just let it be." quiting this compulsive weight lifting thing like a junkie quiting the heroin.

Tonight I had an awesome Kundalini Yoga class. By the end of it I was dripping sweat and felt absolutely amazing. Great full body workout.

Instead of eating like a pig and lifting weights. For one month, i'm gonna do the yoga 5 or 6 times a week, ride a bicycle a lot, and just eat healthy.

I want to see how my body changes, how my mind changes, how I feel.

We shall see where it gos my brothers. Let the experiment begin......

I did that although I didn't do any cardio or yoga etc. Just felt like ass for the most part because you get smaller and softer all at once. lol

Hey flexb, how quickly did it happen? Did it happen after 2 weeks or so, or did it take a whole month to shrink and lose strength?

Probably a better experiment for all of us is for Shi-ka to stop posting on GB for a year.

Familiar with Kundalini classes. Only thing hard to learn at first is the Breath of Fire and a few simple locks/holds and stretches. Also the Pranayama exercises. But can give a good workout to the people not use to any physical training.

Ship, couldn't you use those classes to help you have a better mind-body synthesis? Afterall some people lift, not for the ego, but merely for the discipline, and develop a spiritual upliftment of sorts. After all, true balance is mind, body, and soul. Each one being a fulcrum for the other. To focus singularly on one and ignore the others creates a lack of balance. Which is probably why you think not lifting is going to do some good.

Kundalini is not really about the physical workout, it's about the spiritual benefits and opening the chakras. It really works your flexibility though.

If I want to get a physical workot from yoga i'll do some flow yoga or put in my Rodney Yee Power Yoga DVD.

Hot yoga is the most hardcore and brutal. Most of the guys in here wouldn't handle 10 minutes of it. I've seen lots of musclehead goons walk into the hot yoga studio and almost have a heart attack after 5 minutes.

Also yoga is full of hot women. Weight lifting is a sausage party.

 I agree.

But to me, weight lifting is really not very spiritual. It's more like the opposite of spiritual because there's so much vanity, ego and attachment to to body involved in it. I think the spirituality involved in weight lifting is pretty shallow. It's there but it's pretty superficial. Compared to yoga practice or closed eye meditation it's nothing.

The bodybuilding diet is not very healthy either. Constant heavy foods and high protein. The bloating and gas....

I think the healtheir way is to eat a lighter diet, lower in protein, more fruits and veggies. And focus more on cardio health and deeper meditative excercises. Keep the body toxin free instead of constantly comsuming toxins.

Lately I just havn't been giving a fuck about getting huge either. I'm getting a little older and wiser, and to me the whole getting huge thing is starting to seem really immature and lame. Very douchebaggish.

In the fall of 2008 I stopped lifting for 2 months.  Just had a lot of shit going on!  Boy was it a bitch getting back into it.  Everything came back to me pretty fast, but its pretty depressing watching your body go and climbing that steep part of the hill!

Hoping to never have to take an extended break like that ever again!

Don't you ever get sick and tired of the constant feeding and training and all the time and effort you have to put into it? Sometimes it's like a ball and chain. Everyday you gotta eat for it. Every week you gotta train for it.

One reason why i'm doing this is because next year i'm gonna go backpacking around Asia and Africa for a few months. So that's a few months without training and probably eating inconsistently. So i'm just gonna jump into the world of not lifting a little bit earlier since i'm going to be doing it anyway.

When you're a traveler. It's hard to do that gay bodybuilding thing.

lf, like many others, you have been unknowingly overtraining ,  you will find 100 percent that your weight will increase and you will be significantly stronger than you are now once you resume. I give you my word.
