I was on the door on Saturday.

Sometimes people just walk past and when they make eye contact I smile or say "hello" etc. A man walked past on Saturday night. He was Romanian. I said "How ya doing?" as a throwaway remark.

He then stopped and told me not very well. He has an 8 day old baby and has no job. He has no National insurance number etc and therefore cannot work. He was a pleasant fella. We got chatting for a few minutes. I asked him why did so many Romanians travel so far to come to Ireland. He said in Romania he had a 3 room house he shared with 7 other family members. He slept in a bed in the kitchen. he said over in Ireland he had 4 rooms and it was only him, his gf and his baby.

He says despite the abject poverty and hardships he is way better off in Irealnd than Romania. Good luck to the guy. Spoke great English and seemed quite decent. Hope he gets sorted.

i have close family in switzerland.  it's down right sharia law over there regarding tolerance.  they'd throw up all over each other and cause a national outrage if any of their comedians used racism like ours do here.  it's almost a crime to describe someone by their nationality or origin.  we were at dinner and some black guy walked by and one of us went "i bet this guy jumps high" so the table starts laughing and one of my cousins visiting blushed from embarassment.  i also called a guy a f.ag at a bar later that week and he was like "wow, he didn't take offense to that?" in his effeminate swiss accent.
