do you know them real well stella?

maybe a framed photo of the person who passed with them having fun...

I think something that would make that person think of the person that passed and remember a happy time would be good...iono though if that was exactly what you were looking for

I didn't know the deceased but we are good friends with the people having the party.

Your idea is good though..I just did that w/a friend (and her mom) whose dog had to be put down.  I was worried the pics would make them sad and that they'd have to "save them" for awhile down the road but they both really like them.

:-\ I dunno if the photo thing is "appropriate" since you didn't know the deceased, you didn't take the picture, you have no "connection".  I dunno  :-\  I received a peace lily several years ago and every time I water it, I think of my loved one.

Yeah I don't have any pics of the deceased and never met her etc...it is a good idea though in a diff. situation.  The peace lily is a good idea !

That's kind of a neat idea too.

An expensive natural scented candle. Something that can burn for a long time and be nice to look at.

This candle shop I used to go to did these big wide candles with rolls of cinnamon bark all along the outer side of the candle. Smells divine as its burning.

A simple holder(already mentioned) for it to sit on so there's something that lasts with this gift would be good too.

 :)

Wine is my gift of choice.  It works for almost any occasion, but it has to be a good bottle; no two buck Chuck.  :-[

We took a bottle of wine and flowers.

Candles were a good idea though...there was a candle lit for the lady.

Thanks for all the suggestions :)

I know.  The gift is for host, not for the guests.  Unless you give the host the wine and say "this is for you", then hand the host the champagne too and say "this is for all of us."    :)
