Shampoo a bald head?
« on: October 18, 2010, 11:48:14 AM »
For all intents and purposes my other half is bald; he still needs a regular shave about once a month on his head, but he is bald.  Even so, he still buys and uses shampoo.  I have teased him about this on and off over the years, but now more than ever it seems ridiculous that he is buying shampoo.  What is going on here?  Is he in denial?  Does shampoo serve a purpose when the (male pattern baldness) hair on your head is shorter than the hair on your arms, for example?  He doesn’t have a flakey scalp so it is not as if he needs or uses a dandruff shampoo.  What gives?

I thought of this today when I saw this advertisement online that said shampoos are a waste of money. http://www.howlifeworks.com/health_beauty/Why_Most_Shampoos_are_a_Waste_of_Money_269/?AG_ID=706&cid=8088vy_news_rm

A girl who cut my hair once said that if she were bald, she would still use shampoo and conditioner on her bald head.  I was thinking "what a waste of money."

That is exactly the only good thing about being bald, that you would no longer have to spend money on hair cuts, shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer, and you would no longer have to worry about packing these items when you travel.

I shave my head but I still use shampoo (store brand).  My head feels cleaner using shampoo than when I use regular soap.

I could understand that. Albeit, bar soap for man or woman, dries out the skin (well most brands).

I would think it's gentler on the scalp than soap, plus I think there's 'something' in shampoo that breaks down oils better than regular soap.

Years ago, I read some laundry secret that you could use shampoo for "ring around the color".  It supposedly works better than spot treaters.
