I got bit 3 days before the 1998 Long Beach grand Prix. The reason I remember is because someone had given me VIP Pit Passes. When I got to the hospital I told the doctor I needed to get out by the weekend. He sida we'll see and it ended up 21 or 22 days.
By the way I never ever competed in any event. I was doing this all on my own till that coach came up to me. My idea was that if I can get my throw consistant over 220' then I could go almost to any college or coach show him what I could do and somehow they would help me get on a team or compete. But in reality I never really ever thought about any of that cause unless I got up there at that distance I wouldn't be able to do anything. And I woudln't have tried to so it unless I knoew I could break the record or at least come really close. I had would have been almost 42 years old at the Sydney Olympics. I started training in the beginning of 1997
ah yes, the legend that was dicsovered on the playground by a coach that happned to be passing by,
a movie or after school special was made about this very thing, in every sport, in every way you can think of.
there may be over 100 movies depicting this very scenario, but it is indeed a fantastic and original story,
also, i was training for the 2000 olympics as well, over at my high school, for the 800 meter, one of coaches , or assistants, or hell maybe it was the janitor , told me in the right hands i go go very far, maybe even world champion, i didnt make it through the prelims though,
