Wikileaks Might Have Helped Stop 9/11 Say Two Federal Agents

As many people will remember, Coleen Rowley, "a special agent/legal counsel at the FBI's Minneapolis division" participated in the work that resulted in the arrest of Zacarias Moussaoui on an immigration violation just weeks before the World Trade Center was destroyed. Federal agents asked for permission to search Moussaoui's computer but were turned down.

Special Agent Harry Samit and an INS colleague were responsible for detaining Moussaoui. Additionally, they had information from a foreign intelligence service that Moussaoui had connections to a terrorist organizataion. But even with all of this, officials refused to allow them to investigate Moussaoui further.

When Special Agent Samit informed them that he was "trying to keep someone from taking a plane and crashing into the World Trade Center." (Yes, he was that explicit.) they stone-walled his requests. In testimony at Moussaoui's trial, Samit called the behavior of his FBI superiors in DC "criminal negligence."

Cue the anti CT's with there's no way government covered it up or it was an inside job, thousands of people would have to have been involved.

Cue logic: All it takes is 1 rogue group inside the government to have done this, not thousands of people.

All kinds of shit goes down on a daily basis that we have no clue about, let alone other agencies within our own government knowing what other agencies do.

Just take a look at the NSA as a prime example, they do not release ANY information at all to ANY other agency, FBI, CIA included.

I won't get into a CT argument with you, but the NSA does share its info.  That's not say the ball doesn't get dropped, of course.

I was being too general when I said "ANY", you're right of course, it does share some, but the communication between the NSA and other entities is atrocious.  There was a pretty good documentary done on them a while back that I'll have to dig up.

No need, I agree completely.  All agencies could and should cooperate better.  Of course, the government's standard solution to the problem is to create another "agency" to foster the cooperation.  Doh!
