Of course it would be.  No different than the natives first encounter with Spaniards...They believed they were from another world.  Just the pure chaos alone makes me shutter in fear, although my curiousity is as great as my fear.

It would make things alot more easy to accept if they look more human than alien. I'm sure there are countless races but if they looked the greys, there's going to be problems.  A kind human looking figure would be more acceptable.

I just want this date to hurry up get here and pass, my sanity is at stake here...lol  To many things point to that date throughout history and it isn't a coincidence we just so happen to line up in the center of the galaxy that day...Somethings goin' down.  If not, I'll be more than happy to be made fun of.

People often point to the leap year of the Gregorian Calendar...Problem is the Mayans didn't count by years they counted by days and that special day (Dec. 21, 2012) they and others believe something (no one knows what) will go down..Nibiru, aliens whatever, something is happening.

I think that before we are capable of embracing new beings, we would need to first try to preserve fellow humans from different races, countries, faith and preference.

It's like that saying, "Why work so hard to send a machine to Mars in order to explore and possibly find new life, when we should instead stop killing lives here on Earth?".

If you believe alien abductees, they (aliens) ask why we kill ourselves, and why do we care so much about material possessions. They apparently can't understand emotions (hence abducting mothers of alien hybrids so that they can spend time with their children). It's that we are a totally diff species that hasn't evovled past our emotions and lust for things, and power, instead of focusing on each other, the betterment of humankind. We choose to fight over bullshit thar in the end doesn't matter. And we continually do it, it's a mentality that is self perpetuating.

If we had world peace there would be a lot of people out of work.  Think how much is involved in producing things that destroy, from bombs to bullets, F18 to submarines, from the men who wear unifroms to the women who sew them.

The Mayan's calendar stopped because someone finally got tired of entering new days.  Just because there is no calendar date does not mean the day will not exist without it.  If there are benevolent beings in the universe that are capable of destroying that which is considered evil, then they are as non-benevolent as any other species out there.  They should have done something long before we split the atom.   If they are that much advanced over us, then why have they not taken us out yet?

The Mayans were primitive compared to us.  So they had a calendar and some other stuff that was fairly advanced for their time.  DId they have iPods?  Shoot!  Even dolphins don't have iPods and they're considered to be quite advance for what we call animals.

Honest question.
Lets assume this day arrives and the world is introduced to benevolent beings.  Would you accept them, their knowledge and guidance or would you go American on them?

I can't imagine anyone in the space shuttle using the word alien over the airwaves unless it was for propaganda reasons. Surely they would have their own verbal communication codes for such things. Police force does. Pilots that fly planes do. These guys should be spitting out codes and numbers that most people would have no idea what they mean.
