Does that have anything to do with the "born on" date?
The "born on date" is just advertising propaganda for the most part. Many beers will actually better with age. A beer is not going to go bad after age. You will never get sick from a bad beer, unless it's lost the seal and evaporated the alcohol. The only thing that can happen is that it will taste worse with age or better with age. Most of the time it's the higher ABV beers that will end up tasting better with age but that's not absolute. Some high ABV beers will taste worse with age while some beers with lower ABV end up better with age. About a year ago I drank a budwiser that had been aged 5 years just to see what it would taste like. The beer was stored in a cool dark place for the entire time. I was shocked, the 5 years had taken the cow piss smell normal for those shitty beers from the beer and the taste was improved with the age. I expected to take a sip and dump it, I actually finished it and for what the beer started out to be, it wasn't half bad..
The only thing that's going to really fuck your beer with age is light. It will skunk your beer. Keep it in a dark cool place and it will be fine.
