WASHINGTON, March 27 (UPI) -- John Hinckley Jr., who shot and wounded President Ronald Reagan in 1981, is no longer dangerous, a psychologist who examined him says.
CNN, citing court records, reports a forensic psychologist at St. Elizabeths Hospital in Washington, has testified that "Hinckley has recovered to the point that he poses no imminent risk of danger to himself or others."
But former U.S. Attorney Joseph DiGenova, who prosecuted the would-be assassin, told CNN, "I think John Hinckley will be a threat the rest of his life. He is a time bomb."
Hinckley, who was found not guilty by reason of insanity in 1982, has gotten his furlough visits to his mother's home in Williamsburg, Va., expanded to a dozen visits of 10 days each since 2009
