oh good luck in El Cajon, traffic on 8 is brutal, as it is in northern San Diego. San Diego, one of my fav places to eat is George's at the cove in La Jolla. Sit on the deck, eat some of their steamed mussels and chicken and black bean soup. Amazing Mexican Restaraunts.
Chulajuana is okay, probably one of the least expensive parts of san diego. I have a lot of high school friends that live in Inland Empire which is about 45 -60 minutes north and commute to work.
