Palin Insists She Has "Fire in the Belly"

Sarah Palin was asked on Fox News why she hasn't made a decision about a presidential bid and whether she has the necessary drive to run.

Said Palin: "Oh, that's a great question. I think my problem is that I do have the fire in my belly. I am so adamantly supportive of the good, traditional things about America and our free enterprise system, and I want to make sure that America is put back on the right track, and we only do that by defeating Obama in 2012. I have that fire in my belly."

"It's a matter for me of some kind of practical, pragmatic decisions that have to be made. One is, with a large family, understanding the huge amount of scrutiny and the sacrifices that have to be made on my children's part in order to see their mama run for president. But yes, the fire in the belly? It's there!"

It's going great for me. My net worth is at an all time high. Everything I was down in the Bush made recession has been recouped +.  :) The republicunts are self destructing and have nothing but freak show candidates as their top runners. Obama is a shoo-in for another term. Life is good.  ;D

US came out of recession in June 2009, says NBER

WASHINGTON: The world's largest economy US came out of the longest recession since the World War II in June 2009, according to the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER).

A panel of experts, NBER is responsible for dating various business cycles in the American economy.

"A trough in business activity occurred in the US economy in June 2009. The trough marks the end of the recession that began in December 2007 and the beginning of an expansion," NBER said in a statement today.

This was determined by NBER's Business Cycle Dating Committee.

"The recession lasted 18 months, which makes it the longest of any recession since World War II. Previously, the longest post-war recessions were those of 1973-75 and 1981-82, both of which lasted 16 months," it noted.

Its like... if we use one definition to declare we are in a recession.. we have to use the same factors and definitions to declare we are out...

see

Generally, recession is defined as two straight quarters of economic contraction, NBER takes into different factors to determine the same.

According to the panel, recession is a period of falling economic activity spread across the economy, lasting more than a few months, normally visible in real GDP, real income, employment, industrial production, and wholesale-retail sales.

The American economy was ravaged by the financial crisis in 2008-09, a meltdown that not only pushed the country into the brink but also saw the loss of over eight million jobs. The seeds for the unprecedented turmoil were sown during the subprime mortgage problems that began in late 2007.

Interestingly, the announcement comes at a time when the US economy continues to grapple with high unemployment levels despite relatively healthy GDP growth.

NBER pointed out that "any future downturn of the economy would be a new recession and not a continuation of the recession that began in December 2007.

"The basis for this decision was the length and strength of the recovery to date."

Going by official figures, the American economy expanded 1.6 per cent in the second quarter of 2010 while unemployment rate was at 9.6 per cent in August.

just sayin cant change definitions

Mal - you are really a freaking sad joke.

The labor participation rate is lowest in decades, weekly jobless claims are still over 400k per week, official UE 9 percent and that number is a joke.

Talk to any small business person and ask iof the recession is over.

Ha ha ha - keep sucking that hope and change.   Fool.

im a sad joke. youre the one who hitches their wagon to idiot shit shows for candidates. I you talking a lot of factors and i simply stated that the department that declared us to be in the recession declared us out of the recession. Now you can spit out as many factors and relate them how you see fit but the fact remains that the clinical working definition of recession does not apply now.. cmon man..

Over 6 million long-term unemployed Americans and counting. Economy's fixed, br0s!  ::)

If Palin gave two fucks about this country then she'd sit down, get out of the way and shut up.

I wasn't directing my post at you. Was just saying it to say it.

CNN ran a piece of the long-term unemployed who can't get jobs now because more and more jobs are requiring that people be currently employed or recently employed to be considered for the position. I feel for those people as our president traipses around the globe doing everything and anything he can to avoid having to talk about, never mind actually fix, the economy.

The GOP needs to hammer the economy like there's no tomorrow and put up the candidate that can best focus the attention on it. And Palin is too polarizing and annoying to manage that task. She'd be the focal point and not Obama's handling of the economy.

Cain would be awesome. Can you imagine a frothing-at-the-mouth Matthews letting some racist bomb drop in one of his fanatical diatribes? Would be hilarious watching all these far-lefties expose themselves as race-baiting pieces of shit when they start dropping "Uncle Toms" left and right.

If it came down to Obama vs. Cain, you would be conflicted, wouldn't you?  ???I mean you vote for people based on whether they are black or not.
