I like watching the nba and playing basketball because when i was a kid my older brother got me into it. Had I been exposed to baseball or soccer, i would have prefered soccer or baseball or whatever. I didnt really chose it. We just spent good times watching the nba in france, very late at night, and playing with friends. I ve been conditionned to enjoy basketball , as simple as that. When i think about a summer activity, i think basketball first and foremost, especially because i trained a lot as a kid and enjoy crafting my skills even more, even if im aging. It's "easier" than learnign something new. As you age you tend to economize your energy and knowledges and focus on what you ve already developped. Energy disapear slowly but surely.
On the other hand i hated rugby because my stepfather enjoyed it , and both I and my older brother hated my stepfather. This is how "choices" are made. It's not even conscious. Your preferences , personality, beliefs, are shaped in your childhood and adolescence by the people you interact with.
Nowadays when i watch the nba, it reminds me of these good times i had with my older brother. You do not enjoy reproducing things that were badly connoted, you enjoy reproducing things that were well connoted. It's funny how our brain, as a harddrive, records what we see, hear, touch, taste, and mix it with bad or good feelings and develops deeply embeded reassuring or disgusting schemes, patterns.
I also tend to hate fat people because my stepfather who was fat hated me as much as i hated him. Nowadays i often think that all fat people are like my father, which is a distortion of reality. They might be fat and share some physical and personality traits with him, but they are also different.
I noticed fat people hate leaner people and leaner people hate fat people.
