remember this bob?

It's a made up story, Jackass...only closet-boys like yourself "remember this" from your dreams....I do find it funny that some of you want so badly for me to be gay, that you post the same shit over and over...hoping that your fantasies become reality.

I climbed the ranks pretty fast, winning about 20+ teen shows, placing 2nd to Shawn Ray at the Teen Nationals, won the Jr. Nationals overall in 1987, placed 5th in my National debut the same year HW...

Placed runner up to Johnnie Morant at the 1989 USA, and two more top 5 at the 89 Nationals/ N. American...placed 5th in the 1990 Nationals (drug tested)....clean.  Took 6th in the infamous 1991 Nationals...

Then it all started to go downhill....as I wasnt winning, but close....I started to make changes to my program...training, gear, cardio, etc...more specifically, my last 48 hr. prep....and with every change came worse results....the smarter I got, the worse I looked.  Something to be said for ignorance being bliss...

when I got picked for the American Gladiators, I figured I would go in that direction, since it was a very natural fit for me, being a athlete in many sports for many years... when that canceled the following year, I got a call from the WBF/ McMahon..they were going to offer two amateurs a chance to compete as pros...Paul DeMayo...and Me.  When that closed shop before ever getting going...I went back to my quest to turn pro...

As the years rolled along, I started to focus on running my personal training gym, while still competing, and still missing the mark...

In 1998 I blew out my L-4/ L-5 disc...bad. I had surgery/ fusion in July of that year. Figured my quest was finally over as there were no guarantees of a full recovery, especially nerve wise.

Got with George Farah in 1999, he assured my with my genetics and his expertise of diet/ prep....that I would turn pro....guaranteed.  Busted my  as we had 11 weeks to the 99 Nats...had to re-qualify...went down to TX for the last Q before the Natinals...won the TX, went on to place 2nd to King in the HW ( as I was already down in weight from being out of action from surgery, etc....I was 225 on the button)

Went on the win the USA SHW and Overall at 233 lbs.

THAT was MY Olympia...whatever happened after that as a pro would always take a back seat to 13 years of effort and obtaining my goal...

Pretty cool story/life Chick... underdog stories are always the best!

To paraphrase "Ghost Busters"... Now that's a Big Chick;)

Apologies in advance to both the author and Sir Robert of Chicerillo.

Pretty cool story/life Chick... underdog stories are always the best!

Love to see Bob desperate for exposure, the mortgage payments must be hurting. Bob has got all of his getbig shills writing about him- clearly trying hard to pick up another sponsor. Not often would bob stoop down to confessionals/testimonials in the past.

You are hurting and we are laughing, because you deserve it after all your shameless lying putting down good athletes whose only fault was that they didn't tow the line. Keep on beggin bob may be someone will throw you a bone, after all you have been a loyal dog for so many years

Chick was from a generation of bodybuilders (Bob Paris, Barry DeMey, Lee Labrada) that represented what true bodybuilding was about. When that group retired - the "sport" took a nosedive and the physiques will never return to that level of quality.

You can bust Brave Sir Robert's grapes all you want, but he was a real bodybuilder. Not a fucking drug addict who happens to lift weights 30 minutes a day, like the current crop of "pros".

The fans of the "sport" have allowed crooked judging and a distorted ideal, based solely on profit to rule bodybuilding for far too long.

Thanks for the insight Bob....it certainly speaks to your will and determination to keep busting your butt to try to become a pro after so many setbacks.....but why was it so important to turn pro anyway?....was being a pro really going to open up that much more opportunities for you to make money?....was it for love of the sport?

or did you feel that turning pro gave you some type of legitimacy as a bodybuilder...or was it more a psychological boost....or maybe wanting to prove to the doubters that you could do it?

All of the above, I would say...It did open up opportunities, etc....but getting over the psychological hurdle was the most important factor....thats why I say it was MY Olympia...the pinnacle of accomplishment for me.  I'm not so sure had I won the Olympia, if it would have meant as much...

All things for a reason...

I think you're a little out of line here...his "confessional" as you put it was in response to my question..he wasn't trying to promote himself here...I was curious about his story for the sake of history.....

frankly I don't understand all the hate towards Bob....at least he takes the time to post and talk with us..some of the stuff you guys say about him is funny with the mirage stuff...but lets not take it too seriously....I really don't understand what you guys want from Bob..some kind of tell-all about the bodybuilding industry???

Chick is catching up with Lee Priest as far as burning through supplement companies.  He couldn't be bothered to learn the product line at BSN, so they "chose not to renew his contract" as he put it.  Funny, they seem to keep renewing Coleman's contract.  Over at Bodybuilding.com it has been said that Russ threw a chicken breast into the microwave, walked into his office and parted ways with Chick, then returned to his lunch before it was done heating up.  Frozen egg whites delivered to your door for an arm and a leg?  Get real, the company is tanking.  In this economy-or any economy really-how many gym rats will opt for mail order egg whites at outrageous prices when they can be bought at a wholesale club fresh and for a fraction of the cost.  The acting career? How much need is there for an older out of shape bodybuilder as an extra?  BTW, I can picture Chick telling that tear-jerker of a comeback story over and over in the break room at Home Depot.
