And you are... somehow qualified? You wanna hear a fucking Jew's harp? A cello?

I'll bet you'd really like the "organ" buried in you.
yes I'm qualified.

I own multiple guitars that never leave my bedroom where I have my marshall half stack that goes to 11 where I play songs that other people wrote and post videos of on youtube.

I enjoy talking about different strings and I pretend like I can actually hear a difference between each set.  I obsess over tone because I like to sound just like the recording.  I actually think that buying some effects pedal will help me musically.  I memorize complex chord names so I can sound educated and I think memorizing theory translates into musical ability.

Anyone who can shred faster than me has no "emotion".  and I'm better than anyone slower.

fender and gibson are the only instruments that should be played and I have bumper stickers from each company on my car so the person behind me knows I'm better than they are.

occasionally I'll get a gig at the local park or go to a friends "house" and play the 12 bar blues for 5 hours then "toke down" and go home.

I know you know some people like that ^  they're annoying as fuck.  this is why I don't support people taking up guitar.

I'd like to learn to play an instrument (insert skin flute and other jokes).
Perhaps the piano or a version of a guitar.  Is this difficult to learn as an adult?  Keep in mind I'm more intelligent than most of you ;D

Honestly though, have any of you learned an instrument as an adult...I had no interest as a child I have as an adult just never to the time. I can sing but that's not enough, I'd like to play an instrument.

Intelligence won't help you if you don't have talent. However, folks who are good in math and folks who learn foreign languages easily are reputed to be more musically inclined. I learned to play piano as a kid although I never did anything with it. When I sit down at the piano in the living room, I can still play about as good as I did way back then (which isn't saying much). I've considered taking lessons again. Your never too old to learn something new.

Piano,...find a teacher that teaches from the Well Tempered Clavier...

If you go with guitar, find a teacher who teaches from the Vivaldi books.
