It doesn't mean shit.

Training everything at once from the offset doesn't mean shit either, you can only be good at what you are good at.

Partially agreed. Fedor said something along the lines of the importance of needing a base to fall back on. You can't be good at everything just because you train everything from day 1.

I dont understand. There are guys that trained everything since day and and they are in the ufc. as in they are Good. Ofc they are going to be slighly better at something due yo liking it more or learning that part faster or it comes "natural for them" etc.
Are you saying having a good wrestlinmg base "doesnt mean shit" ? Im confused lol.

Without a doubt, having a wrestling base is the best for transition to MMA.

exactly. There might be shit lost in translation lol.

if we have two guys that trained kickboxing for 5 years each, but one has 15 years background in wrestling. Ofc thats going to "mean shit" in a fight

I'll give my take and predictions:

Anyone that would pay more than $5 to watch this horrific-suck PPV is an idiot.

Dana White can suck it.   ::)

Either way... Dos Santos looks to be clearly taller than Carwin in the pic on page 1. Carwin seems to be closer tp the camera man too

They notriously incresed carwins stats at first lol. (was billed at 6"4 during first fight if I remember correctly) Got to the point were he made an official statement about being 6"2  ;D

dont get it twisted carwin was already on this card to begin with he just switched opponents...JDS is the one at a disadvantage being as he has now trained to fight three separate fighters cain, brock and now carwin...

Didnt have to change anything from lesnar/carwin change though (pretty much same with cain also besides cain having the best hands) Both strong wrestlers and heavy hands although carwin has better technique obviously

Junior dos Santos (239) vs. Shane Carwin (254)

I guess photos can be deceiving

JDS is going to beat Carwin up for 3 rounds. JDS by decision.

Much better standup, 10x better on the ground, much better cardio+ Carwin looks like he's 70lbs lighter so he can't expect to just throw JDS against the cage and pound him.

Carwin could always score a KO with his heavy hands but I highly doubt it.

Carwin's wins have all come against guys who had shit stand up or were 10x weaker than him physically, or both.

i agree...JDS is the youngest most promising heavy to hit the scene in along time...Carwin has the punchers chance but i see JDS picking him apart...

I dont think you give Shane enough credit for what he can do, his stand up isnt polished but his raw power is in the top percentile as far as hitting goes. JDS has superior stand up ability but as was shown in the Mir & Gonzaga fights, all he needs is one punch to pretty much finish anyone he meets. That single punch may not be the KO but it puts him in a dominant position where he can then deliver the finishing blow(s).

I do believe JDS will win, and hopefully i dont look like too much of an ass after all is said and done, but i fancy a strong first 2 minutes from Carwin and if JDS can get through it he'll outscore Carwin from there. If he doesnt find a jab or maintain his distance he might suddenly wake up to find he's no longer the #1 contender. Should be a very good fight.
