In exactly that condition? Not too well. Take the frame and muscle mass and get into today's standard of condition, top 5.

I think the better question is :

How would this physique rank with today's drug cocktails ?

Can you imagine what Haney's chest and back ( his two strongest bodyparts ) would like with today's drugs ??? HOLY SHIT !! LOLOL !

yeah Haney may have exceeded Ronnies 286 all time Olympia best ?
The thing is I think Haney was the ideal combo of modern size with classic lines.
Addng mass and a more freaky look to Haney is like adding extra stuff to a classic car.
You just ruin the whole look and it is no longer A CLASSIC!

No, I don't think he would've exceeded Ronnie's best. Ronnie has, or rather HAD, incredible arms. Haney did not.

Your " car " example doesn't bold well with me, Howard. You only say that because we're speakin' in hypotheticals. A LOT can be said about today's bb'ers, I think. Some of them would look ( to use your example ) more " classic " if it weren't for the abuse of various drugs. There's a reason why yesteryear's bb'ers looked incredible, and why today's look like fuckin' farm animals. Personally, I was always a fan of Mentzer's physique. That WAS my ideal for a very long time.

Balance, lines and proportion create the illusion of possibility.

Size creates the fact of impossibility.

What you have now is a freak show, pure and simple. There is nothing inspirational about modern bodybuilding.

Whatever anyone says about the so-called lack of size from the older generation, nobody can deny that their physiques made you think "What if..."

Physiques now make you think "What the!?!"

By the way, you know of course, what they do with farm animals in the end? Hopefully it will come soon for modern bodybuilding...

You simply can't compare anyone unless they are on the same EXACT dosages of the same EXACT drugs.  Put Haney on the same stack that Coleman was on, then you can compare.

Honestly i don't get Haney. Great chest and taper but i don't think his lines and structure is aesthetic, horrible abs small arms.... Great guy though, to me he was one of the first mass monsters not a classic physique.

what you would be seeing...
would be a heavier lee... not better!!
he would be bigger, but also a huge gut... look at coleman...
his calves would still suck so he would fill those up with oil...
i think he would look a lot like coleman  just smaller arms, but wider in the shoulders.
huge wide back, thick also and huge pecs.... legs would be blown up in size also a la coleman but lack defenition.

so would that be better? lol i do not think so!
lee was perfect... that pic right there is the human limit for mass.... any more and it just looks silly...

A smaller version of Coleman is what I would see. And the word " better " when speakin' of Haney and today's drugs is so subjective. Neither of us really know how Haney would've really turned out, to be honest. " Better ", " Perfect " ... I try not to use those words often. You, perhaps, view Haney as the ideal, and, I view Mentzer as the ideal. Again, it's so subjective.

The problem with blowing up Haney's physique is genetics-the arms in particular. He does not have especially long bellies in his arms, especially the biceps. That limits their mass potential. Compare their length to say the top guys in the supers at the Usa yesterday.  If you blew up his physique on HGH ,  SLIN and high doses of test, that chest and back would get enormous- as big or bigger than anyone now. The arms probably wouldn't pass 20 inches.  The result would be so out of proportion it would make Branch look symmetrical.

yes i agree it is very subjective...
but i meant to say, that the amount of mass, in relation to height... lee was perfect.
i actually like berry , bob paris, gary strydom better then lee.....all have similar mass to height ratio.
all about 6´or 6´1 and 225 to 235 pounds.. lee was bigger at 243... but that is where it should stop.

lee was phenomenal though. but with todays drug supplementation he would look like todays goons.. lol!
big distended belly, seo in arms , calves and other places... not to hard to imagine lol!

If you look at Haney and his training philosophy, he wasn't willing to go beyond a certain point...and retires at a young age. He was part of thd old school, as was Shawn Ray, which is also why Shawn Ray didn't go beyond a certain point. If Haney was on the same thing as everybody else, his 5'11 frame would easily Cary 280+, and still have a relatively tight waist, bigger arms and a bigger chest and back. And his legs would be bigger---his training philosophy would have to train as well.

he retired because he won the fucking Olympia 8 times..... he got bored! lol...
he also once said when asked about his use....he looked at the competition and then made sure to use twice as much lol! he was playing around , but that was his game.
these guys went beyond that point man! lee was the mass monster of his day, the dude weighed 20 pounds more then the other guys his height!

nobody at 5'11 will make 280 pounds look pretty, nobody!
if lee would go and be 280.. he to would have a huge gut, and look ballooned up!

Well, Dillett was 6'1 and 280, Nasser was 5'11 280 with no huge gut...it's all genetics and what you use...when I say old school, I mean not doing what Dorian would do, not doing the Chad shit with plasma expanders...Haney had the frame to carry more, so he used more, that simple.
He barely edged out Dorian for his 8th Sandow, by then it was a new era. Haney looked like he run down the street and then do 50 pull ups...Dorian look like he could waddle down the street
