Injection infection?
« on: August 02, 2011, 11:46:39 AM »
I did a shot in my bicep three days ago and it wasn't the best of shots. I aspirated but blood came back into the syringe after I was done, not much, but a little. Anyway, since then the area has been a bit warm and red, but this is common. I've been using the same stuff for months and this same vial for a couple weeks and no previous problems. But this one hurts exceptionally more (trying to entirely straighten my arm is like pulling fingernails) and yesterday I came down with a bit of a fever. Went to 101 but today is down to 99.4. I used a new needle, new barrel, cleaned everything with alcohol as always. Should I be worried?

I did aspirate and there wasn't any blood, but somehow some came back into the needle as I withdrew it after the shot. In any case, that wouldn't explain the fever would it unless it was an infection?

And if you do get a little infection, are antibiotics the only way to fight it or can the body kill it over time?

hmm not really sure man.. when i do shots nothing gets swollen or red but thats me.. the blood on the needle is ok.... just not always common... if it was first time u did ur bicep it can explain the extreme soreness.... i have no idea about the fever to be honest.. maybe its gear related maybe it isnt... i guess just rest up and see how u feel and dont inject into bis anymore until u get ur shit right.. it should def be done with no longer than an inch and def 25 guage or higher ... i dont shoot bi's (yet)... some other guys should be able to help u but i think u should be ok..... what are u using that caused this and what lab is it from?

Yeah bi's are tough but I started using them because I can't just rotate delts (I pin e3d) and I can't reach enough to do tri's, and I'm not comfortable doing quads or glute. So I just go one delt to the next, then one bi to the next, then repeat.

I been using 1" 23g for everything. The product is old Couture stuff, always been top notch for the folks I've known who used it and it has already worked for me. Even this vial no probs until now

glutes, ventro-glute, pecs.  These are all easy to inject places.

trust me, i dont have the largest butt either lol seperate butt into 4 quadrants and use top outter, all meat and there will be enough there for needle to go in just fine. one of the spot thats less painful for me. I jst think that bis have more chance for infection if not done right compared to other parts.

I agree.  It's so unlikely that you could hit anything in your glutes it is the safest place to inject.  I like delts too because I can do them sitting down.  I don't know how you guys can't reach your tri's.  I have no trouble putting 2.5 cc's in the outer head, which is just as easy to hit as delts.

If you have an infection you'll know.... give it a couple of days if you start running fever then u need to go to the doctor asap. Bicep shots are tricky. stick to large muscle groups

I've had a persistent low-grade fever for 10 days now. But it comes and goes. I'm fine in the morning and the afternoon get a fever anywhere from 100 to 102, then it goes away in the evening. From what I've google'd, on again/off again fevers generally don't have to do with infections. But of course, there were no answers on what *does* cause it.

pec shots?  damn that's ridiculous.  I stick to the quads, easy to reach, painless, and quick

stop being a pussy and hit the glutes (its more sub-glute hip than it is really glute). also, dont reach around to do the tris do it from underneath.
