Kongo is asking for a rematch with Cain Valasquez. He won't lose this time if they give him the fight. But that's just me.

common it all depends on the fight your watching. Some fights in boxing k1or mma have you on the edge of your seat.... some are just boring tito ortiz fights.

Agreed. I've watched friday night fights on espn for years (used to watch USA tuesday night fights) and have seen some of the best fights in the history of the sport of boxing. Same with K-1 on espn back in like 93 when they used to show it all the time. Now you can go online and see some epic fights not marketed. Same with mma....there are good matches on bodog and Dream.

Has to do with the whole marketing aspect and who is the cash cow per sport when dealing with the avg fan. They'll get sold on a product thinking it's the elite when it's not. There are purist of combat sports vs avg joe fans. The avg joe fan needs US marketing to feed him/her on a product since they are not in the know and have no clue about the dynamics of combat sports outside of seek and destroy, make me happy, bar room logic and I don't blame them since this is what they are sold.

True. Remember that from it's inception in 1997 to 2007 when it went under that PRIDE was a notch above the UFC, but few American fans watched it because it wasn't American so in their minds it sucked.

Except for the BJ vs Diaz fight which was spectacular, this was probably the most boring UFC card of the past few years. Pretty much all the fights went to a decision, and the guys seemed like they were sleeping. And what a pathetic way for Crocop to retire. I mean, he couldn't beat a fat man who looks like he "trains" at Burger King.

SUCKMYMUSCLE

Well, at least we saw Cowboy Cerrone's coming out party.

The rest was just ok.

The Penn vs Diaz fight is another example of how important reach is in fighting. The reason why Diaz won is his greater reach. That is why he outstriked BJ and won this. This is also why Jon Jones could outstrike Shogun even though Shogun has superior technical Muay Thai as well as more power. At the same bodyweight, the guy with the greater reach has a huge advantage against his opponent.

Very true...plus add in Nick is 100% confident in his boxing ability. The combinations he did last night were absolutely basic boxing shit and he was just throwing shit and it still landed on BJ because he simply lacks fundamental boxing skills like not being lazy with punches, chin down, head movement..etc. Nick too full advantage and has been doing this for years. He gets these guys in macho stand up striking matches and simply goes 100% boxing on them...as soon as they crumble he'll submit them..his bjj is world class.....he is very dangerous at this time imo

They were not the same bodyweight.  Not even close after weigh in and fight day.

Diaz used the clinch to bully Penn against the fence while dirty boxing. That was the key the breaking down Penn through the first round to open up his reach in the second and third.

bj is a good boxer but doesnt have the cardio. there is no point of having skill if you cant use it.

diaz has no punching power what so ever. landed many clean shots but couldnt put him away.

but with that being said nick put bj on show and thats an achievement in it self.

can he defeat gsp? well it depends on if he can throw gsp off his game plan and get him into a stand up fight.

Anyone see the line up for the next ufc, the one with Leben as the main event?

WOW.  Now THAT is a HORRIBLE card.

Just checked out the card for UFC 138 - Only name of note other then Leban is Thiago Alves, looks like a disappointing card.

Well, UFCs 139, 140 an 141 are going to have truly great main events, so maybe Dana couldn't get anyone noteworthy for the next one.

One of my fighters was supposed to me making his UFC debut at 138 but had to pull out due to a partially torn bicep when he was training in the UK. Oh well, next time.

Yes...but to be fair he trains with another good trainer when in the UK. Christian Vila.
